Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Remote Medical Insurance Verification Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and facilitating smooth billing processes. Your expertise will help streamline patient intake and support our mission to deliver exceptional medical services with accuracy and efficiency. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while maintaining a vital role in our healthcare operations. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE FIELD of GASTROENTEROLOGY.

Duties

Verify patient insurance information by contacting insurance providers and reviewing electronic medical records to confirm coverage details.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
Review and interpret medical documentation, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9, ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding systems to accurately determine insurance eligibility.
Collaborate with medical offices and billing departments to resolve discrepancies or issues related to insurance verification.
Maintain detailed records of verification activities, updating electronic health records and insurance databases promptly.
Communicate clearly with patients, providers, and insurance companies to clarify coverage parameters and answer inquiries professionally.
Stay current on managed care policies, insurance plan updates, and coding changes to ensure precise verification processes.

Experience

Prior experience working in a medical office or dental office environment is highly desirable, providing familiarity with healthcare workflows.
Demonstrated knowledge of managed care plans, medical terminology, and medical records management.
Experience with medical coding systems such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding is essential for accurate insurance verification.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security during all verification activities.
Office experience involving insurance verification or billing processes will be considered an asset.
Excellent communication skills combined with attention to detail are vital for success in this role.
