Environment, Health and Safety Manager (Full-Time) ( Onsite 5 days in Manassas, VA)
Location: On-site, 5 days per week in Manassas, VA
Salary: $160K - $180K Base Salary plus Bonus
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Business, Security Management, Criminal Justice, or related field from an accredited institution, and/or training in environmental program management is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7-10 years of related experience is required.
- Preferred certifications include Certified Utility Safety Professional or Administrator, Advanced Safety Certificate, and First Aid/CPR.

OVERVIEW:
- Manages schedules and assignments to monitor the daily activities of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department, ensuring a high level of customer service.
- Responsible for leading, managing, and modifying as needed all company EHS initiatives and programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and safety regulations, guidelines, and Security protocols, and reporting requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the management, development, modification, and maintenance of the worker safety program that strives for an accident-free work environment, provides comprehensive training for workers, always remains compliant with mandated regulatory requirements and safety programs, and maintains accurate and complete recordkeeping of all safety-related activities, including worker training, accident investigations, periodic safety metrics reports, and submission to government entities.
- Develops, implements, and promotes company-wide security and safety plans, policies, and programs, including fire, security, and life safety systems.
- Leads in the development of strategies and tactics to continuously enhance safety programs to reduce risk, raise safety awareness, and improve worker safety.
- Serves as the subject matter expert in the areas of safety and health and provides expert opinions on matters relating to state and federal mandated regulations and requirements, particularly on matters pertaining to OSHA, NESC, DOT, NPGA, NFPA, etc.
- Represents as a subject matter expert on matters relating to safety with government entities having jurisdiction over regulatory compliance for safety.
- Develops, analyzes, and submits reports to government entities and authorities having jurisdiction in matters relating to safety.
- Conducts safety assessments and audits to determine compliance with mandated requirements and to identify improvements and enhancements to current safety practices and programs.
- Develops and recommends to executive management safety goals and new safety initiatives and programs.
- Manages all updates and modifications to the existing Safety Manual, and all safety guidelines, procedures, and training materials.
- Develops Emergency Action Plans for all facilities and coordinates with local emergency services to ensure compliance with their requirements.
- Addresses environmental issues by identifying short- and long-term areas requiring attention, providing pertinent information and commentary to inform deliberations, recommending options and courses of action, and implementing directives.
- Creates, maintains, and submits monthly safety reports to management.
- Researches, develops, writes, revises, and disseminates policies and procedures as required or needed.
- Evaluates and analyzes compliance management for state and federal regulations.
- Develops and maintains tools to track and analyze safety training-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Manages the Safety team and all occupational health and safety consultants, ensuring safety goals and objectives are aligned.
- Maintains a close relationship with all levels of management to implement and maintain an effective and constructive Safety Program, including a visible presence at work locations.
- Utilizes all available resources to accomplish desired results. This includes establishing and implementing safety committees and recognition/reward programs.
- Works with the Safety team to plan, develop, implement, and administer accident-prevention and job-training programs.
- Handles and maintains the integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive human resource and management information.
- Applies learnings from accident and near-miss investigations to develop training material, work method improvements, human performance improvements, and effective safety policy.
- Applies formal accident investigation processes (Root Cause Analysis) to determine personal and organizational causes of accidents and injuries.
- Able to facilitate discussions related to detailed or complex work events.
- Manages the oversight of jobsite work/equipment inspections.
- Identifies and anticipates safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying operational and occupational conditions; rendering an opinion on new equipment and procedures; investigating violations; and recommending preventative programs.
- Contributes to the overall strategic plan.
- Review and Develop Environmental policies and procedures.
- Provides leadership within the department to ensure required human resource administration, staffing, training, coaching, development, work assignments, performance management, goal setting, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Works continually towards self-development to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
