VA-1100: Senior Biometric Software Engineer (U.S. Citizen)

Location: Rosslyn, VA

US Citizenship Required: Yes

Job Type: Full Time

Education/Experience: Minimum of BS and 10+ yrs experience

Athena Sciences Corporation seeks a biometric software engineer to join a team working for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM).

Required Skills / Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship
DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of development experience
Experience with GoLang and Java programming languages
Experience with Spring Boot
Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven
Experience with relational databases
Experience with Docker, AWS Admin RedHat/OpenShift v4.x
Experience with Agile development methodology
Knowledge of end-to-end fully-automated CI/CD pipelines

Desired Skills / Qualifications:

Proven track record as a self-learner keeping current with the latest techniques to include automated code scanning, automated testing, continuous integration and continuous deployment concepts
Experience in Jira to support configuration management in an Agile environment
Experience with AWS
Experience with OpenShift or similar Kubernetes platform
Experience with Gitlab/GitHub
Perform database programming and support systems design
Design and develop system level changes
Interface with client on technical design
Experience with scrum/agile project lifecycle approach to software development
Experience implementing and managing a CI/CD pipeline
Possessing a clear understanding of pipeline architecture and design
Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proven fluency of English
Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility

Responsibilities for this position will include:

Use Java and GoLang development experience to develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications
Provide support and technical advice during conceptualization, development, and implementation phases to transform requirements to working solutions. This includes involvement with users to define system scope and objectives, as well as contributing to design decisions.
Work on new development and re-engineering efforts, including making system design decisions
Implement enhancements to the existing system, coordinate with other developers working in parallel, and perform QA/testing as needed
