Adapt Integrated Health Care

I started with Adapt in 2016 and continue to love the work I do. I have been able to continue education while working and growing in the field of Substance Use Treatment. I have a colorful background which could be referred to as field experience. (insert smile) I share this because Adapt Integrated Health Care encourages and supports a variety of opportunities for individual's who would like to enter the field.  
There are opportunities to advance, however like any career you have to put in the work. I value that. It supports that Best Practices will continue because those who are willing to work hard also care about the mission of the job. Client centered practice and focus radiates from departments.
Members of the Management Team are supportive of their staff, at least in my experience. I have seen a marked improvement in acknowledging and addressing diversity issues as they are identified and improving cultural competency company wide. 
While I do value what we do, it does have some difficult aspects. The aspects of the job that are hard require a person to stay vigilant with self awareness and personal healing. Dealing with humans in crisis and having endured insurmountable traumas can naturally leave a provider with heavy days. Adapt offers EAP and Supervisors who are accessible to support the staff through the difficulties of job. They encourage and support self care, health, and overall wellness. 
The benefits have always been above average and the salaries are improving. I have zero complaints in that area. 
Overall I would say - a team is what makes a place or breaks a place no matter the mission of the job. If you are ready to be part of a team that values their mission and is client centered - we welcome you with open arms. 
There will always be wrinkles in any place - Adapt Teams work to get them ironed out. 


Adapt is centered in recovery of addicts. 
They have a poor management skills in their main office. 
With uneducated and unskilled leaders. 
They have a huge turn over in employees due to what can only be seen is and inappropriate human resources management setup.

A typical work day is full of hazards for low level employees who are exposed to urine, dirt and filth, the facilities in the Adapt system are poorly run, and are state funded waste facilities. Meaning they spend money on just about anything they please with no accountability of how its spent. For those that become counselors they are not educated enough to handle the jobs they due. And employee can go from low level entry to counselor in just a year which is impossible to provide enough experience and knowledge to help anyone.

The leader ship system is designed to manipulate clients and staff alike. It appears on the outside as a clean well run ship. However scratch the surface and there is allot wrong with this company.

There are little or no benefits, there are long hours with low rewards often in 5 and 10 cent raised. Jobs starts at 10.00 to deal with some disgusting issues at the facility which is never disclosed in the interview or job description.

One would think it would be a rewarding job, however due to mistreatment of management and manipulation of clients its very clear this is not a great place to work. Most find this out after a month or two after the honeymoon is over and you start collecting urine from clients and dealing with filthy contaminated facilities.

Want a job still, bring gloves and a gallon of hand sanitizer your gonna need it.

The agency is growing quickly with a large amount of new blood coming in and hoping to provide more services and connections for the community. There are a LOT of people working here and it's nice to see how many different services are available. There is a degree of "mission-driven" (that's how the emails say it) approach that everyone seems to take and do so well. It's overall a decent experience for learning, community connection, and seeing positive experiences overall. Compensation is alright but benefits are fantastic.

The negatives are largely based in an "old guard" of people who have been at the agency for years and simultaneously don't think they have anything new to learn and that they are the ones who should call every shot whether or not their approach is informed by decade-old practice, mere personal opinion, or simply aren't in the position that, by job description, should be making the call. There is a high degree of internal politicking between teams, and especially amongst administrators, some of which more or less seem to believe themselves to be de facto leaders with carte blanche to say and do anything regardless of whether their opinion is informed or not.

On the whole, it is not really any different from other corporate jobs I've had. It's just built differently as the roots were small-town, small-size. The experience is worth it and, if you are looking for a place to grow, it's definitely the spot. It is a tough fight to stay away from the politics and even tougher to hold ground against the guys who tell you (in vague terms) that they get to decide what happens, not you, even if your job description says otherwise. BUT it's a neat spot with a unique niche if you can scrap with it.

Since starting at Adapt I have met many great people and only a small handful of not so great people. My coworkers have been amazing and seem to enjoy their positions for the most part. If you step back and look at who's enjoying their job and who is tolerating it, you will see one difference. Credentialed staff vs inexperienced staff. The staff that have been at the company for a while and have all the proper certifications enjoy their jobs, while the newer staff who need help with certifications are struggling with little to no help. Unfortunately if you approach a supervisor about trainings and certifications, some have a "fend for yourself" attitude, which can lead to confusion on what steps to take next in terms of career advancement/certification. Several employees seem overworked, while others appear to need more training. With connectivity difficulty in some facilities it can be difficult to communicate via zoom or other online platforms. While the Roseburg and GP offices seem to have an effective working environment, when traveling to the coast, it can be a little chaotic. My advice for new hires is to remember who you are there to support, and don't take what a few supervisors say to heart... And learn to fend for yourself. 

When I applied to work for Adapt, I had no idea that it would be one of the best decisions I ever made. During the 10 years that I have been with Adapt, I have been provided with enough training and experience to help me acquire 3 Oregon state licenses, plus I’ve had the benefit of gaining valuable experience working multiple positions, with each new position being an increase in responsibility. This, plus the encouragement I have received from my direct supervisors has made it possible for me to fulfill the position I have today. A position that offers continued personal and professional growth, and a position that I am truly grateful to have. Regarding the working impediments brought on by Covid, I believe our upper management has done a great job making sure we are safe, our concerns are heard, our services stay open to the greatest extent possible, and that we never had to  miss any pay. Speaking of pay, my coworkers and I received substantial bonuses for our parts in continuing to provide services throughout our pandemic. I’ll end by saying, Adapt Integrated Health Care identifies specific values that the agency strives to uphold, and I continually see those values reflected in our policies and procedures, in the Adapt trainings that are made available to us, and in the actions and behaviors that shape our working environments. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part about working for Adapt is its continual growth and expansion. The organization is consistently developing new programs and services, which creates opportunities to learn, take on new challenges, and serve the community in broader ways.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Executive leadership could improve transparency in decision-making and communication. Internal politics at times created barriers to collaboration and slowed progress on important initiatives.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The workplace culture in my experience was heavily influenced by informal networks. Advancement and project movement sometimes appeared dependent on relationships rather than clearly defined performance standards. Communication between leadership and staff was not always transparent, which contributed to a sense of instability during periods of change.

Typical day in the life in a nutshell, making a difference in peoples lives! 
I have worked in 4 soon to be 5 different departments within Adapt and they have ALL pretty awesome! 
All the supervisors/directors I've worked under have all been awesome. They are always understanding and always ready to promote advancement for their people. Hints my movement through the company. 
I have learned a great deal as they always offer continuing education for free to employees. 
Workplace culture is great. Feels like family. I've never felt like a burden and I always feel heard and more importantly inquired upon for questions and concerns. I feel like they care and are always trying to be better employer.
Most enjoyable part of being a counselor for me is when I see the 'switch flip'  in someone's eyes and they grab ahold of their recovery and begin living a life free from their addiction. The joy and happiness they show makes it all worth it!


In my experience and nearly 5 years w/ Adapt, I have felt nurtured as an evolving member of a team. They have helped me achieve my career goals and support my future w/ the company. Adapt has provided trainings essential to my certifications and provide further resources for CEU's as needed for my credentials. 
They have supported my ability to be available as a parent for my children. Which is one of the most important aspects. And through Covid-19 Pandemic, being able to work from home while helping my child has encouraged further feelings of appreciation.
There is no way around having some stress in SUD treatment -its part of the job-- we are dealing w/ peoples lives as they are in crisis. The healthier you are the better off you will be in this field. Taking care of ourselves is important when you work w/ people who have lots of trauma.
I recommend this company as a great place to work, to further your career, personal growth, and satisfaction as a part of the community that provides essential services to those in need. 

The people at this location are gems. My co workers were amazing because they were involved in the local community deeply and cared about change at the micro level. 

Adapt overall is a great place to work however with any medium size employer with a base office over an hour away a lot gets left to wayside. 

The benefits are great especially if you have a spouse or significant other whose medical insurance you can be on. They provide a payout for not using the medical benefits which is nice for me. 
They are always wanting feedback as an organization and I appreciate it. 

Somethings do disappoint, like how a co worker was treated when she got another job offer because she was being extremely underpaid for her credentials, they didn't entertain giving her a counter offer. I was disappointed with the lack of concern in retention for this excellent clinician. This experienced.co worker left for that job and the office felt a little less bright because of the additional work and losing an anchor in the staff. 
Overall, decent place to work. 

Adapt recruits counselors from all over the state. Then allows non- certified HR staff to bully them in hours and pay after hired.

Adapts turn over is very high the exception is senior HR and CEO staff. 
Adapt is circled often in legal problems and lawsuits not painting a very good picture for a work environment.
The success rate they state at interviews is 20% the reality is it more like 3% at best. This is a revolving door for addicts from court, to treatment, then rinse and repeat. Having been a counselor along time I was shocked how inept there system and staff is at treatment. The same can easily be done at AA or NA and for free. 

There are agencies that are good for recovery, Adapt is not one of them. They have zero understanding on accountability or recovery for clients and staff.

There are better places to work then this, they reel in counselors with promises of promotions and success then intimidate the counselors whom work there.
