I ignored the reviews when I accepted employment with ABMG. Big mistake. Now I am right there where many of the reviews landed. Poor management, cliquish, like the high school cheerleading squad and they make it very clear who is "in the club" and who isnt. 10 days PTO per year and you get to decide if you use those for vacation OR sick time. Either way, be prepared to be raked over the coals when you get back from taking any time off. Management cant get their story straight. 
You cant get the same answer from any two people but it is your fault either way anyway. They dont mind making up things, either when they want you gone.  I have heard more than one manager on more than one occasion  cussing about another employee's error and being completely unprofessional for all to hear. Keep it to yourselves. Letting everyone hear it also lets everyone know that you do the same thing to them when they are not around. The 401k match is a joke, but they have a representative come in and say it is the best that he knows of. He didnt know a lot!  The medical insurance is so astronomically expensive it is unaffordable for a family. Now they are working on figuring out any way and every way to omit bonuses from pay structure. There isn't any amount of pay in this world that is worth this stress and I regret my experience with this company. I'll be gone as soon as possible. Hey management! It's cute the way you all give yourselves new titles so you can have raises while the rest of the company gets promoted based on club status or not at all! The COLA raises annually are nothing compared to merit reviews and raises that many companies reward employees with.. ABMG doesnt believe in those. They dont want their employees focusing on anything but the feedback from their management team at the time of the review. They believe that if you know there isnt going to be a chance at a raise that you will focus more on what you are being told in the review, and the reviews aren't positive meetings. Lack of advancement is not a  concern to management though. There's always a new title just around the corner for them to justify that hefty pay raise and celebratory meeting announcement. Go, YOU!

•	Handles the tasks of reviewing residential loan application file to verify the completeness of data and meets with company policies  and government regulations
•	Conduct ongoing reporting of compliance performance, analyze reports and data 
•	Processes mortgage loan applications and work with more than ten investors on a daily basis 
•	Writes/Pre-underwrite loan applications to determine best loan program and lock rates 
•	Gathers all documents required for loan approval and submit to the investor 
•	Makes call to companies to obtain property abstract, appraisal and survey 
•	Manages and directs junior loan processors
•	Responsible for verifying, compiling, and typing application information for mortgage loans 
•	Assist Loan Officers with mortgage loans and follow- up with clients to collect all documents necessary to close loan 
•	Updates mortgages clause on Homeowners Insurance policies 
•	Processes external and internal payoffs for old mortgages and lines of credit 
•	Reviews and arranges file in proper stacking before submitting to underwriting 
•	Interface with attorneys and loan officers to ensure all documents are in place before closing date 
•	Mails the letter of approval and denial to the applicants 
•	Records status of loan: number of new applications, approved loans , canceled, or denied 
•	Ensures the accuracy of HMDA data and regulatory compliance
•	Support of employee and executive compensation and benefit programs
•	Provided 100% quality customer service

Atlantic Bay overall is an amazing and wonderful company to work for where the CEO and upper management try to be very involved in the day to day life and keep as much people happy as they can.  They really do care about the work/life balance and try to make it so everyone leaves the office at 5:30 each day and has a stress free weekend,  

A typical day has you plugging away at your desk but they break it up every so often with lunch being brought in or some office games with prizes.  You really get a sense of work hard and play hard here.

However the one downside I've come to realize is that is still the mortgage industry and old habits die hard.  I had an unfortunate experience that doesn't really represent the whole company but it highlights that there are bad apples that pop up.  Most importantly I had a manager very rooted in the "old" ways so I found myself stuck in a new position with a person that was hard to impress and get on their good side.  Again this doesn't reflect AMBG as a whole but someone would need to watch out where you step when going up the ladder.

One minor gripe I found was in the healthcare... The PPO was fairly good and used a strong network of doctors and discounts but it was VERY expensive, even for single payer.  The other option was to go it yourself with an HSA but then that wonderful network shrinks and the discounts were laughable.

I was just feeling comfortable in my position. Enjoying that I was excelling and getting rave reviews from peers and some superiors for my high quality work. If it seems to good to be true, probably is. Seems like ABMG lured me away from a good, stable job during a peak market with an impressive compensation package, remote schedule, etc. to only lay off (along with many other employees) when industry settled. And after researching I see now that this is a pattern of Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group.
A company is not excelling if it only hires during peak conditions to only lay off MAJORITY of new hires in less than a years’ time. This is what’s wrong with our job Economy. ABMG should be more honest upfront and possibly hire for contract or temp positions since this seems to be a recurring thing. 
Management is also very clingy with long term employees clearly because of the above mentioned issues. 
This is hurting the working class and the mortgage industry as a whole as potential clients constantly see a large turnover rate on employees which indicates instability. 
Promoting internally is wonderful but it negates the situation when you can’t keep a stable employee rate consistently. 

This company operates with inconsistent and non-formal training, setting unrealistic expectations from the start. Despite being upfront that I had no prior experience using BYTE, I was still expected to meet production and accuracy goals without proper support.

Management rushed me through self-study materials, even suggesting I skip important content, only to push me into side-by-side training, then releasing passed all test cases. Only to put me back into training again because they were “trying something new.” The entire process felt unstructured and misleading.

Although I consistently received good feedback, I was ultimately told I wasn’t “a good fit.” That decision came after only six weeks — one of which was consumed by rushed training. To make matters worse, a seasoned underwriter who been with them for 20 years gave notice within my first month there, which should have been a warning sign.

The company misleads candidates with positive feedback but fails to provide realistic training, structure, or expectations. Proceed with caution, especially if you are a minority underwriter looking for stability and genuine support.


ABMG, seemed like such a great place to work, at first. Then I got into my job role. My manager was very poor in communication, stated she was being transparent. Yet only shared negative feedback. I was employed for approximately 5 weeks and of those 5 weeks. 3 I had major IT/equipment issues. I literally had 2 full “working” weeks. The expectations of work performance were highly unattainable and unachievable. I had 2 days of training. I was placed into a position that was set up to fail immediately and never even given the opportunity to achieve any success. I do not recommend working for this company. They are not transparent. They are professional bullies who don’t want their employees to succeed. And push to brow beat, point out short comings and do not supply you with the tools, support or expectations necessary to truly succeed.  

My experience with this company started off decently, but the pay could have been better given the workload. It’s a good opportunity for someone looking to kickstart their IT career, but not a place I would recommend for long-term growth. You’ll gain valuable experience, work with cutting-edge technology, and adapt to a business environment that’s constantly evolving.

However, the culture can feel cutthroat at times, and advancing here often requires after-hours work and significant personal time investment. Professionalism is lacking in some areas, though it’s not the worst. Job security is minimal, so you’ll need to consistently perform at your best.

One important note: I wouldn’t recommend giving a two-week notice, as they are likely to terminate your employment immediately upon notice.

This company is extremely biased and discriminate towards minorities. It is simply all about who you know here. They will hire 20 people and then fire 30 with absolutely no remorse at all. Atlantic Bay Mortgage is highly unorganized and constantly changes their game plan! It is highly likely that you will be hired and fired within the same week due to a change in management/ideas etc. The only perk of working here is that most positions are full time with benefits unlike some companies. Although with the pay you likely won't be able to afford the insurance anyways. If you are fine with your peers being promoted as a favorite over you as a hard worker go ahead and apply! If you don't mind working in an environment that is similar to high school-- go for it! If you don't mind people treating you different simply because you are a minority, older, overweight etc. Go for it!

This company was nice to work for but they did a lot more entertainment of the employees than they did work.  There was a lot of talk about bringing in more work and how busy we were going to be, but then within a month of this information coming out - we were laid off. I was hoping to be at this company for a long time - but was laid off within 6 months of being there.  There was a video meeting every morning with the VA office and there was not enough room for everyone to sit in the room.   They went over information that was not relevant to everyone, kind of a waste of time.

Very disappointing experience. The company also posts false positive ratings and pays some to respond to the negative ones. Take my advice, if you are looking to work in operations, this is not a healthy place rather extremely hostile. The poor leadership is the root of dysfunction. I read the past posts where people proclaim that only the friends of the current management are promoted and even recently the management in place has promoted themselves. They come to work to serve themselves and not to serve the team. I have never worked for a group of unprofessional people. I have spoken to previous employees after they left and all have come to a conclusion that this company is not fond of people of color. If you are looking for the truth, Scroll past the posts that are labeled "great place to work" as those are disingenuous
