My specific experience with this company was throughout peak COVID-19 scenarios between 2020 and making a change in 2022.

Therefore, all the negatives that I was focused on learning and growing from are likely reduced or non-existent at this point.

In a fast-paced, high-volume, customer-oriented environment adapted to auto hospitality, expect plenty of challenges, but equally, plenty of satisfaction knowing there are numerous opportunities to influence real and positive change if that is what one seeks.

I am happy to express that I brought upon meaningful change and withstood many challenges in learning how to interact and nurture relationships with people of numerous backgrounds and mannerisms. 

Placing me as a meaningful proponent of positive change for my location to grow into its role with the client dealership. Able to establish newfound respect and positive relations moving forward. It was not an experience for the faint of heart and it was not absent of dealing with difficult people, but it was real and rewarding knowing that I played an integral part in developing the Citrin name and presence.

I experienced everything from short-staffing, changing leadership, assuming higher leadership roles above the normal call of duty, and high-stress situations. But I stuck around because that was my mindset and I knew I could earn valuable experience for my own personal and professional development that would give back exponential value to my team.

But at the time, that scenario was understandably not for everyone. Most all positions involve plenty of physical and mental effort and stamina, so be prepared to move indoors and outdoors constantly on a dealer lot, expertly maneuver automobiles, and in some scenarios assist with shop waste management upwards of 50 lbs, plus shoveling snow only because that was typical of my experience.

Past the adversity, it was always a joy getting to meet people of different backgrounds within the dealership departments and through the customers, we serviced daily. There was usually never a boring day on the job, but it did depend on the time of year and the effects of the market. And some of those professional relationships could even be lasting!

Truthfully, I will say to anyone considering a role with this company, you will be glad to hear that part of their goals are to hear you and respect you as the unique individual you are, giving you plenty of options and opportunities to grow and develop yourself if that is what you seek or at least find an environment where camaraderie is more than achievable.

A lot of it will come down to your approach. This company is still growing and growing fast indeed. They are extremely flexible and accommodating, but respect must always be part of the equation.

As I mentioned, back when I started, the air was more uncertain and a considerable amount of dissatisfaction was present. Even so, I saw it as part of the growth process and for me, I was willing to be part of it.

Nowadays, I expect most locations to have well-established and respected teams. Be prepared to fulfill a people-first role where being dynamic, understanding, and self-motivated will be to your benefit, and having a genuine interest in cars and the automotive industry will make the experience even more enjoyable, especially if auto detailing and care is something that interests you past interacting with diverse amounts of people and authorities.

Everyone's mileage will vary, but as I say, you will never know unless you give it a good and honest attempt. For me, their company values sold me, especially their focus on human-first approaches, and it's a competitive alternative to retail-oriented/food service opportunities. 


I really like what I get to do at Citrin. But there are a few things that just don't make sense. First off you have to wear pants. It doesn't matter what state you work in, what dealership, how hot it is, or what the humidity is. You have to wear pants. Even if you've experienced a 30-degree increase within a week and your team is so hot that it affected their ability to move quickly and dampened their morale. The best answers we have received for this is that "it doesn't look professional to wear pants." -any upper management, and "if you let team members wear shorts then you have to make a uniform standard for socks and shoes and that would be additional uniform standards to enforce." -Leadership training video. Which you already have one on shoes so why would it be such a big deal to add socks to the uniform code... It's little things like this that make your employees think you don't really care about them. Other than that personal experience for me hasn't been great. From being told that I'm up next for promotion than having that promotion go to someone else and that person being fired two days after receiving a promotion that was supposed to go to me then having a new team member be given that promotion when I've shown I actually care about how the account is doing is pretty upsetting. So my current lack of enthusiasm for this company is at an all-time high. The job is great. Employee and employer relations are questionable. Flexibility has worked for me and most employees I work with. Pay is okay... But I came from making a lot at my other job and have lost money based on what my bills were and was hoping to be at salary by now. But I haven't. The only thing currently keeping me at this job is my coworkers and the carrot of having an account as soon as this pandemic passes. Other then that like I said before. My enthusiasm for the company has diminished. Oh, fireside chats are cool. So there's effort of communication from the high up like the owner down to everyone. That's really great and seems to be a good idea to help with morale and building trust. Oh, I guess one other point that I would put a finger on. Some guy from marketing I had spoken with. Alex, I think his name was, saying to me that they are pouring a ton of money into figuring out how to increase the volume of applications since we had been short-handed. I told him how about you save some of that money and just increase the pay rate. the town next to this one is going to be at $15 an hour for minimum wage in the next two years. Just beat the punch. Otherwise, you'll never get anyone to apply here. I drive 40 minutes to get to this job. People are willing to drive for 15 minutes next door to make more money. Then he told me that they are always the highest paying in any market they enter. But yet my last supervisor left to work at a different valet service and was being paid 3 grand more for the same position. So there's kind of a disconnect there on how to make the job more appealing but without making it worth your time. There were a lot of issues with the old operations manager. I guess he wasn't doing his job correctly and he left along with the rest of the upper management in the market I work in and I've been doing what I think is best with the limited training I've had. I was told by my current supervisor that I wasn't taught how to do my job correctly. But haven't seen much effort put into teaching me how to do my job correctly.

I started with this company back in August as a Vehicle Delivery Ambassador. In this role, I mainly am responsible for the pick-up and delivery of customer vehicles for the service department. Our team also provides porter and shuttle services to our client dealership's customers. Overall, I am very happy in my position, but there are small things to be aware of.

For the most part, our days are taken up with pick-up and delivery trips. When we aren't busy, we provide porter and shuttle services, as well as assistant janitorial services (sweeping, shoveling, garbage removal). Sometimes though, due to the staffing provided by our client dealership, there are times where our team will be unable to provide the services we are meant to provide; especially if the other two dealerships we service have no trips for us to fulfill at the time.

The job in and of itself is not physically hard or intense. And to that extent, I don't think the pay should be outlandish. However, due to the high risk nature of motor vehicle operation as well as the number of opportunities presented to operate motor vehicles at higher rates of speed and in varying weather conditions and on various road surfaces, I feel as though the starting pay should be higher than what it currently is. Having a clean MVR is required, but that does not account for other drivers, vehicle breakdowns, poor driving conditions, as well as the time spent traveling and distances covered.

Be prepared to WAIT. Most of the time, waiting happens because customers have to complete payment for service before we can drop their vehicle off. Other waiting periods include, but are not limited to: waiting for vehicles to be serviced, waiting for shuttle team member to pick you up from customer location after completing vehicle delivery, waiting in slow traffic/construction, waiting for service advisors to complete paperwork, and waiting for customers to come to the dealership to have their vehicles serviced. Waiting will become you life. Get ready for it now.

If you like driving like I do, this is definitely the job for you. Just know that you will drive A LOT, and if you aren't used to that,  you will be very tired after your first week or so of full-day shifts. Maneuvering smaller size to commercial size vehicles in tight spaces is required. After 30 days of employment, new hires are allowed to operate what are designated as super-cars and heavy duty vehicles. These vehicles require special attention when in operation, and no shenanigans will be tolerated.

This is a really fun job working with some pretty fun people, and I would definitely recommend working here. The complaints I have are few, and this is the first position I've had where that has happened.

A typical day at work starts with me leaving for work about 30 minutes before my shift begins to make sure everything is ready to go when guests arrive. Throughout your shift, you will park cars, return cars to guests upon their departure, and manage payments. You will be responsible for keeping all keys and cash payments secure. 

I learn new things about working in an efficient manner every day. You start to consider things like time debt, how to work efficiently as a team, and the best ways to manage an unhappy guest, and overall, it has strengthened my decision-making and critical thinking skills. The task itself is not complex however doing that task efficiently is very challenging especially as our volume continues to grow. 

Management is wonderful. They are flexible and understanding and will always be able to offer guidance

The workplace culture is great. The majority people I work with are young adults who work hard and have fun at the same time.

The hardest part of the job is the focus you need to maintain throughout your shift. You are driving a car that is not yours. You must drive every car with the utmost care from the first car you park to the 100th. 

My favorite part of the job is the hours. I function better in the evening hours and Citrin works with many restaurants that close late. This complements my sleep patterns much better than a standard 9-5.

Citrin has been an amazing platform to help me grow in my career and personally.  I started in Columbus, OH as a valet and worked my way up over the years while helping launch 30+ dealership accounts, most recently launching the Chicago market and having the opportunity to relocate to the city this past year.  

I cannot begin to explain the amount of experience I've earned working with Citrin's leadership and the leadership and associates at each dealership we partner with.  Seeing so many operations and meeting so many experienced, successful operators and leaders continues to grow my knowledge and experience today.  

Above all else, the support I receive from Citrin has been critical to my development and success.  Our management team is hugely supported from our home office with recruiting, hiring, equipment/uniforms, HR, accounting/payroll, and anything else we may need.  It's awesome to know I can pick up the phone and reach any department if I am in need of help.

 I only left a 4 star score on how we can be treated because we cannot control how others act around us in life.  I see this as an advantage to working at Citrin because the challenges of dealing with an upset customer or dealership associate has taught me how to better respond and work through those issues.  Most importantly, these challenges have taught me how to provide solutions to issues and sucessfully implement them in our operations.

All in all this job has challenged me since day one and that's what I love the most about it.  There has been no shortage of opportunity for myself and those around me, and that's very exciting as we continue to grow.

Worked at Citrin for a few months earlier in the year. I have numerous complaints about this company, and to avoid going into too much detail, I will list them:

-Very low pay (per 20 hour work week I usually left with about $100 cash and would receive checks for pathetic amounts, almost always under $100)
-Management scheduled me outside of my feasible range (lived on campus and did not have a car but they still scheduled me further than I could easily reach by bus or Uber)
-You have to pay for company apparel (flimsy company jacket and beanie cost $100 for some reason)
-Terrible time off policies despite a high volume of employees (I was hired 2 months prior to spring break and already had a plane ticket home, but since company policy is to have your time off in three months in advance, I was fired after calling out of my scheduled shifts)
-Was once scheduled with one other relatively new employee at a location neither of us had worked, and we were not told that there was an event happening there until we arrived. We received an influx of about 50 cars in under an hour, and with only two of us there we called our manager, who was reluctant to show up, and even then we were still extremely understaffed
-Company holds raffles and giveaways but with the high volume of employees, this is more dissatisfying than not (also goes to show the profitablility of the company while you make about $9 an hour after taxes)

Would not recommend this job to anyone, but if you like being treated like a cog in a wheel, go for it.

Citrin has to be the most unorganized company I’ve ever worked for. Management doesn’t know how to be management while the VDA’s are picking up the slack of everyone around them and getting paid VERY unfairly. Everyone complains about management, their pay scale/structure and either not having any trips or being bombarded with trips. There would be times where 3 trips are booked at once and there would only be 2 people available at the location, so we would take the heat from the customer because we were late. Many things were promised, and many promises remained undelivered. The work environment was very sensitive in terms of company policy. For example, your shirt may come untucked after coming in and out of cars for hours, and by the end of the day, you are being lectured about dress code. Another example is that you may have had a last minute spontaneous emergency right before your shift and come a few minutes late, and then there’s another lecture. There are so many Citrin problems that Citrin themselves are not willing to fix but put it all on the VDA’s to fix. Top heavy management structure, unhappy VDA’s and unhappy customers. I thank God everyday that I’m out of that place. Great job Citrin.

Also, what company makes their employees pay for their uniforms? I’ve never heard of that in my life. My God there’s so many problems with this company. 

Listen, when I say stand all day, I mean it. 8 to 9 hours a day, no sitting allowed. I tried to work with HR regarding this but they are push overs because their clients I.E dealerships don't want you to sit near the service drive. They are hypocritical because the service advisors get to sit during their shift right next to you then yap to your management about you sitting at all. You don't get benefits unless you sign on after you are hired to work a minimum of 30hours a week, after that wait 3 months to be considered for benefits if you meet the requirements. As in the cons, you will not receive pay raises as a basic valet employee. You will only receive a pay raise if you are promoted to a shift lead, and even then you might not get shift lead hours/pay unless scheduled to work them. Don't even try to argue with anyone about issues regarding safety or how things can/should be done differently. They don't care about you, or what you have to say. Better off finding a different job.

A typical work day would involves constant movement around the dealership whether it’s moving cars, keeping the service lanes clear, or just restocking waters you’ll always have something to do to keep the day moving and stay on your feet! Something I learned is to not let the little things stress me out and to come in everyday with the best intentions for a great day! It makes someone’s day better to at least smile. I think the management of the job is straightforward and simple, just do the job and the day will be easier than you thought. The workplace culture is honestly great for. I work specifically at the Lexus dealership in Atlanta and know and have a nice relationship with mostly all of the technicians and service advisors. It’s a great place to meet different people and connect/network. The hardest part is when the work slows down and I like to be constantly moving. The most enjoyable part is absolutely the people, both customers and coworkers. It’s always a pleasure to make someone else feel great and that little difference of maybe having a conversation with someone or just making someone smile can make a huge impact for them.

Citrin has been a wonderful company to work for! One of the few that actually practice what they preach, Citrin is all about creating and maintaining a positive work environment and ensuring their team members are happy and supported. It's a fast growing company that is focused on retaining it's small business feel. It is not abnormal for upper management/corporate office to reach out to check on you because they genuinely care. If you're experiencing issues, they're instantly helping you brainstorm solutions to see how the issues can be resolved. 

The business is expanding rapidly and so there are numerous opportunities for growth here. But even with the advancement, Citrin is always focused on making sure you're ready for the next step in your career and assisting in any way they can to get you there. The promotions/opportunities are endless if you've got a solid work ethic and can take direction from your leaders.

The only reason for a four star for job work/ life balance is due to working with clients who sometimes will reach out to you outside of work hours. This isn't a reflection on Citrin, but it does come with the territory of management and is very minor.

Overall, its been great developing my career with Citrin! It's a company that I'd recommend to anyone who feels stuck in their current career and wants to make a change to positive and supportive environment.
