I feel like a fool for taking the role at Dataprise. Credit to the recruiter, she really knows how to do her job. The way it was described did not fully equal the work and environment.

All your time must be accounted for, down to the very last minute.   Missing 5 minutes from your day?  Expect to get spoken to.  Spent too much time on an issue?   Expect to get spoken to.   The level of micromanagement at this place is beyond anything I have experienced any where in my entire career.   

The only management you will get is constant hounding to do more work.   You could be on the phone with a customer and start to get several messages from a manager asking what you're doing, why you're not replying, what another co-worker is doing, to call him immediately, to take this other issue, and how long it will be until you get to a new issue.  It's overwhelming, discouraging, and beyond stressful.

Half the techs shouldn't be working there.   A good portion of them just don't know what they are doing.  The others have communication skills on the level of a 4th grader.  If I was a client paying big money for Dataprise to handle my IT and receive communications like they do?   I'd look for another service provider.   

It's not all the tech's fault, however.  Training is beyond poor.  With dozens of clients, each requiring unique handling, you'd think we get in-depth training on how to handle things.  What you end up getting is a 30 minute power point presentation and told to read a Knowledge Base if you have any further questions.  You'll regularly find yourself wondering what the heck to do because you have no information on it and no resource to help you. 

Dataprise needs to take a hard look at itself if it wants to succeed.  It goes all the way up from the managers, to the director, to the vice president. They just want to see good numbers and couldn't care less about the folks in the trenches who are actually trying to do a good job. 

I leave work feeling beaten, drained, and dreading coming in the next day.  I don't know what employee retention is like, but it can't be great.   I can't get out of here quickly enough.  

Don't even get me started on things like the in house ticketing system that the owner created himself.   At some point they need to realize the steaming pile for what it is and move on to something that actually works and functions in a modern day environment.

Friendly group of "engineers" Too busy to stay focused most days, no time to catch your breath, unreasonable expectations, when everything is a priority then nothing is a priority, try to do what is in front of you at the moment, until someone yells at you to take the next call, every other ticket is a VIP or has been escalated to Tier 2 with nothing done previously. Documentation is the worst old information is never purged even when updated on another page or location altogether, cannot be efficient when you are constantly trying to find answers to basic configuration questions. Example day in the life: You receive an e-ticket, then call back on a scheduled request, when you drop the e-ticket or try to convert it to a scheduled appt, a call beeps through on the line from a vendor while you are trying to hear what the client is saying they need help with or telling you the best number to reach them at, so you ask them to repeat what they just said & then another VIP call comes thru on your main line. RingCentral MAX is complete garbage, and you cannot create a 3-way call with a client & the vendor without having to ask one of them to call you back. Team members work hard, but have little time to read through notes to help out on more challenging or persistent issues, while being bombarded with the next call, ticket, meeting or unreasonable demand from the supervisor that you are taking too long without asking for help, or to reschedule after researching the problem that you never have time to do later or further escalation. Everyone seems to just be putting in their time, getting a check to pay half their bills, and complaining to the co-workers & families if they have not gotten divorced yet.

The role suffers from extremely limited training, with employees expected to perform tasks they were never taught. When issues arise, there is little support from management, and mistakes can put your job at risk. Compensation is low with minimal benefits, and since the role is salaried, overtime is not recognized despite frequent expectations to cover extra shifts. The workplace is disorganized, with unclear instructions and poor communication. While some co-workers do their best to help, they shouldn’t be relied on during their off hours to keep things running.

You are also expected to find someone to cover your shift if you need to leave, even for emergencies. The manager often refuses to take responsibility for their role and can be very belittling instead of offering support when challenges arise. On one occasion, I was left on a call with managers from another team regarding an incident that specifically required the presence of my own manager or higher. Instead of stepping in, my manager delayed joining, and I was belittled for nearly 30 minutes by those other managers before any support arrived. This type of neglect was not an isolated experience but reflective of a broader pattern of poor management.

The company's goal is understandable but they do not provide the tools to reach the goal.
Since it is an outsourcing company, any IT rep that works there needs to charge 5.5 hours billable to clients per day or else it will be considered a none performer. That is understandable but the tools they provide to do so is not sufficient to pull an account, understand the over all network config, and then help client profficiently, ( 100 clients mean 100 different network set up, password information, and account information. Each client will have 10 pages of information that one need to grasp within 10 minutes to proceed)

I tried it, and managed to do so for a year with a lots of stress.

It was a boot camp for IT. I did learn a lot but need more tools developed to automate knowledge of client that IT person will deal with in the next call he/she may pick up.

Free lunch and a stocked fridge. Also employees do happy hours but culture is high stress at times and full of constant pressure from upper management

Its a company where only few heads in management have their say rest all are puppets i was hired and then laid off stating we anticipated our growth wrong i mean what kind of answer is that ... shouldnt a CFO needs to be fired for this ?? what a joke..

Also seems like some of the employees have relations internally so even though they are low performing they still stays and other made escape goats to save them.

Too much politics and no growth at all ... screw that hence i am glad i left that place or made to leave.

Our typical workday started the usual way, brief meeting and answering emails etc. I really loved the job helping retirees figure out how to use computers to access their benefits, but it quickly came to our attention that we were not getting enough calls. In fact some days I only handled 1 or 2 calls, as part of a 10 person team! Shortly after I started, I was laid off due to a lack of work, and my metrics were held against me.

The people make this company!  The actual work you get paid for is a grind and difficult, with the same actions being praised one day, and being faulted the next.  The people you work with make it OK most of the time, and the overall attitude is friendly and fun, its just that the work is never clear and you are not given much guidance.

Dataprise was a good place to work, especially before the pandemic shut eveyone down and we moved to a renote model. They were purchase towards the end of 2019 so the culture may have changed somewhat, but overall they are one of the best MSPs (Managed Serice Providers) out there.
