I was recently hired at this location for a full time pm caregiver position. I decided after 6 weeks of working there that it wasn’t a good fit for me. It was very unprofessional and unorganized working here. The ADP system to do new hire work doesn’t work. They never got me on the time clock. My hours were always incorrect for the payroll. My social security number and my other personal information wasn’t correct in their system. The receptionist and management just wasn’t friendly and welcoming. A typical day at work is getting report from the morning caregivers about the residents. You answer pendants, give showers, laundry, charting,  take vitals, set up dinning tables to serve food to the residents, and give residents their mediations if you’re doing the med cart that day. Then you get them ready for bed. What I believe I learned working here is how to care for residents that suffers from dementia and Alzheimer’s. If you don’t have the patience or knowledge to deal with dementia disease, then Encore won’t be the place for you because 90% of their residents have dementia. When it comes to management they need to work on their professionalism. Say hi and acknowledge your employees.  They also need to  organize orientation more professionally. Tell us what the company is about, have your housekeeper, receptionist , maintenance worker, cook, dietary staff, the nurse, and the region manager come introduce themselves. Tell your new hire staff about the benefits and payroll. Tell us what is expected from us working at your company. When it comes to work place culture, I love the fact it’s very diverse and you work with different people from all type of backgrounds and walk of life. The hardest part of the job is working short, and it’s also the fact that the caregivers have to wash dishes, take the down the dishes to the kitchen , take out trash outside, serve dinner, and bring that cart back down to the kitchen. Hiring dietary aides will the kitchen tasks will help the caregivers out a lot.  The management also feels the caregivers should always be busy when there’s nothing to do. We should be able to sit down and rest our feet. Due to the fact this type of job is hard on the human body. We should be able to sit down Especially when the cares are done, the laundry is done, cleaning is done, meds been passed, and no call lights are going off. Caregivers are the backbone and companies shouldn’t overwork their caregivers. The most enjoyable part of the job is that you’re making a positive difference in the lives of the residents you take care of. There’s nothing better than hearing the aides tell you how great of a caregiver you are. If this company wants to keep longevity staff you have to treat your staff well. Smiling and acknowledging your staff truly goes a long way. Overall this is a beautiful, clean, and enjoyable place to work. 

The managment here is terrible.  Im still working at Waterford place assisted living, I am a caregiver who goes above and beyond. I love taking care of residents and making sure they are getting the quality care they deserve. Administrator condones and creates a lot of chaos , drama and gossip making it difficult to work some days. The admin specifically, hinders the growth and advancement of employees. I specifically came back to grow within the company because I love encore and their standards. I have the experience and capabilities of being in a higher position but my growth is being hindered because of admin. It’s disappointing. I seen too many great employees leave because of admin. I have also talked others into staying because I will stand up for the residents and great workers. Great leadership doesn’t favor people, sees the potential of great employees and makes more leaders. Great leaders go where they can support their employees,  not where it’s convenient and easy. I have gave input and ideas on how to make the work place more efficient,  a positive/happy place and was yelled at by admin. I want to make a difference in making the community the best it can be. It’s not just me - it’s family members of residents and other employees. A great running facility will have caregivers who are happy when they come in and leave feeling rewarded. 

I enjoyed working for ENCORE because I enjoyed the appreciation from my supervisors. I respected my supervisors who showed care and compassion towards the residents. After 2 years with the company I no longer felt valued, respected, or heard. I no longer felt the things holding me to encore. After having accepted a promotion I was constantly reminded of my age because of the position I was in. I was given no formal training or tools to help myself succeed.  I utilized my resources and was able to float on and figure it out. I brought up concerns to my manager and the issues were never resolved. I cared about my residents, I was passionate about encore and the potential it had to become something great, my plan was to advance and work my way into nursing and stay there forever. That all changed with the work dynamic. Managers vs managers, gossip, lying. This job is about helping residents, not creating a divide within your staff. 

This workplace is truly a disaster. From day one, training was almost nonexistent. Short staffing is a constant problem, which forces employees to take on unsafe responsibilities alone.

The biggest issue is management. Supervisors publicly berate staff, communicate poorly, and shift blame instead of providing help. Employees are even pressured to solve management’s problems themselves.

Turnover speaks for itself: every single person they hire ends up leaving almost immediately. People don’t stay because the culture is so toxic and unsustainable.

Some coworkers genuinely try to support each other, but that can’t make up for hostile supervisors and poor leadership. If you value respect, safety, or proper training, look anywhere else.

Do not waste your time this a horrible place to work resident are neglected everyday they don't bath them nor keep up with changing they don't feed them the staff hits them. they die left and right due to staff not properly caring for them. They do not insure Dental insurance Employee assistance program, Flexible schedule, Health insurance, Health savings account, Life insurance, Paid time off, Referral program, Vision insurance. Ive been here for two years and have not received any of these things. State is in and out of this place. if you get caught working there your likely to do jail time. its nothing but straight drama, management is involved in drama. if your not their favorite they will over work you and let others do what they want. I basically have nothing nice to say about this place. fights in front of the buildings many residents are left to starve. 

I feel the main reason i stayed at Encore for 9 years is because i was an important part of maintaining a nice quality of life to senior residents suffering with Alzheimers disease. They were offered a nice homemade meal and attended many catered events. IF they had a restricted diet we would always try to make their food items as similar as the rest of the residents. 
Management was very professional but money was tight sometimes. 
My employees were good and bad and sometimes caused a stressful environment.
Maintaining the monthly budget was the hardest part for me. High expecations with low money equals HARD.
I loved my job otherwise!
I love to cook and bake and I love the reaction of people when they taste good food.

Short staff and not having the right food ordered to follow the daily menu.

Work environment is not good, you can’t trust anyone there.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Make breakfast for 40 residents, set the tables and pour juice and coffee , plate the food and serve it, prepare room trays and deliver them.  Clear  the tables after meals and do the dishes.  Prepare lunch, set the tables and pour juice.  Plate the food and serve it. I have never been treated so unfairly, so poorly, so unprofessional in my 20 plus years of working various places.  I am praying for each and every resident that lives there.  They camnot keep a nurse or administrator employed for more than 3 months.  No one follows policy, then long term employees are blamed for administrative mistakes.  They slander their employees, do not help out when short staffed.  Resident assistants doing 3+ jobs at a time because no one does their job correctly, then told by upper management they are to blame for jobs poorly done.   Pay is probably one of the lowest in the industry. I was lied to, made fun of, and personally attacked.  Worst experience Ive ever had.  Do not work here.  

Corporate and management are the biggest problems. They only care about the money, even at the expense of other residents. 
When there's staff that cares and tries, everything runs smooth and work is enjoyable. 

It's when you get staff you doesn't come in or use their time effectively or treat the residents with respect and dignity that makes eveything harder and unfortunately corporate likes to keep those people on payroll. 

It's very difficult to get things replaced like freezers  or steamtables or ovens, but they're more than willing to buy furniture that isnt actually needed for common areas.

Corporate needs to be more respectful towards the staff and the residents. Stop seeing dollar signs instead of people. Stop keeping staff that doesn't care.

Encore is the poorest run company I have ever had the displeasure of working for.  The complete disconnect between the corporate level and boots on the ground is astounding. The administrator's run the buildings as a fiefdom. 200% turnover.  No training.  Huge employee gaps in care. Resident abandonment.  Employees are expected to shore up the huge incompetence of administrative staff.  Encore mantra, if it has a pulse, they're hired.  The mismanagement shows that almost 100% of management did not come from a real established corporate job that runs on all wheels.  If you apply, good luck, because if you are not a "favorite" and "tow the line" you will be 100% gone.
