I'm on a contract for Ciber.  They won a large contract and there is a large team of Ciber consultants onsite, including a Ciber FT leader.  Overall, she does a good job as a leader, does not micro-manage and tries to provide the backing where needed but she is spread WAYYY too thin for what is trying to be accomplished at the client site.  

Ciber has done a good job of hiring qualified / high caliber associates on our team.  The back office Ciber people are good to work with and when I had an issue with something being paid on my benefits, the Ciber HR person worked hard to resolve it.

Their onboarding process is very poor however.  Their website is VERY clunky, not user friendly, HUGE numbers of steps to complete that is very time consuming.  There should be at least a couple of days allowed on Ciber time to complete all their required reading material, quizzes and such.  Even trying to complete them on your own is challenging because of all the multiple issues with their website.  Supposedly that is being revamped, but not certain.

Ciber client account managers are non-existant, and spend most of their time managing the constant influx of new people due to high turnover.  If the client has a complaint, you'll be let go immediately, with no support from Ciber.  No two week notice, no pay or medical benefits beyond your last day at work.  Expensive medical benefits, and low hourly rates.  

Constant stream of useless email from Ciber that you are suppose to read, and lunch and learn training sessions that are poorly organized and delivered.

Whatever rate you start at you'll be at while assigned to the client.  Performance reviews are required every year, but no one at Ciber takes them seriously, as they couldn't care less about your professional growth.  

The Ford Lundy Ave. office in Dearborn is a dirty workplace, with gross carpet stains, torn carpets, carpets patched with duct tape, and refrigerators that will make you gag when you open them.  Building is jammed with people, and the bathrooms are disgustingly dirty.  Bring your own toilet paper!  Food service at Lundy Ave is by Aramark, and it's awful.  Best advice is to bring your lunch. 

The only positive thing it say is that you certainly won't have much to do if assigned to the Ford Dearborn Account.  Most people spend their days walking the halls, taking extended lunches, and hiding out in one of the many conference rooms.

Worked for Ciber Inc for 3 years.

First 6 months went well, then the company reduced pay for everyone in IT by 10%. During the announcement, they stated if we discuss it with our co-workers, we could be terminated. (Which a threat like that is illegal). They said they were going to return it back to normal after 3 months. 3 months came and went, only 5% was returned back (no back pay though). They stated the other 5% would be returned beginning of 2010. That didn't happen and no one said anything and basically hid the truth from the staff. The president of the division changed and so did the CFO (both with umbrella packages).

I complained to my manager, his manager, and then finally the CEO and basically it trickled back down and the VP of the division said "forget about seeing that back pay or that other 5%... ever".

Management is a joke... they're nice.. but don't have a clue how to manage staff or even inspire them. People work there because management keeps them in fear of losing their jobs. I parted ways and

HTC was a very energetic place to work at and I enjoyed working there. The managers and co-workers were easy to get along with and helpful. The work environment was pleasant.
One of the things that I would have to say that was not agreeable to me was that they change positions and company policy quite frequently. This can be difficult for someone who gets comfortable in a position and doesn't like change.
I typical work day consist of taking calls from various clients and working for a first call resolution.
The most enjoyable part of the job for myself was being able to help my clients. I really enjoy the satisfaction of hear a client happy that you were able to help solve their problem. One of the hardest parts of this job was the constant rotation of positions. Transferring from building to building did make adjusting to the job difficult. I for one though it was difficult at times still loved the job and would recommend it to anyone that loves a face pace environment with plenty of activity.

My experience with this company was quite disappointing overall. It seems that the public image of the organization doesn’t fully reflect what employees actually experience. The interview process was a joke. Felt disorganized and lacked a structured technical assessment, which made it difficult to evaluate the company’s professionalism.
After joining, I found communication from management to be limited, particularly for on-site employees. The focus appeared to be more on administrative tasks like timesheet submissions rather than employee growth or engagement. Performance evaluations were inconsistent and often delayed, leading to frustration among team members. The work culture, in my opinion, was challenging and stressful, with limited support systems in place.

The colleagues are why I stayed otherwise it’s terrible. Take on extra work, extra shifts -no raise. Advancement is impossible. Work two or three different roles - no raise. Just empty promises. They will start to expect you to do favors if you agreed to do one once. They’ll offer you a promotion and say “hey expect the offer letter” then a week goes by and they decide to give it to someone else. You are only criticized, never praised. Heavy, heavy workload especially the longer you’re here and NO RAISE. Tons of work and expectations only to continue making poverty wages. If you work here, leave after a year and never look back. This company is a JOKE and higher up management is the punchline. They don’t care how much you do to run your account, how much you actually care about your account, they will take advantage of that and work you like a dog with no raise like it’s ok and normal. IT’S NOT OK!

This temp agency (vendor) prided itself on being "No.1 in outsourcing". They actually sent out a newsletter to my business email with that in the header. While the corporation I was at was negotiating a labor contract. Wow, classy!

Their HR reps were snobby, uninformed, preening and greedy. I'm not sure what their commissions were but I bet it was A LOT more than, say Volt Staffing, TEK, or similar. Half of them drove Porches and Mercedes.

I got zero paid time off even after a year. No sick leave, no paid vacations, nada. The medical insurance -- wow, I wish I had NOT gotten it. It was over $500 month and it paid for nothing. The insurance company fought me on every little thing.

They had a rep for never offering raises, refusing to do annual employee evaluations, etc.

And they weren't above calling me at work on my company cell phone to ask me for the secure email addresses of the various project mgrs in my dept. Again, classy!

* CIBER used to be an excellent company to work for. Very responsive, great benefits, good people to work with. The company went bankrupt, and HTC Global purchased it. HTC Global removed all incentives, and ignores its employees.

* Of the scant PTO you are allotted, you are expected to take National Holidays, and any other days your client may close. If you work in the US, that means ~8 days of your PTO is used, before you even begin the year. 

* Since my CIBER supervisor left, I have heard from my HTC Global supervisor once, via group email, to introduce himself. I've heard nothing since. 

* I do not expect any performance reviews. I certainly don't expect any raises or bonuses. The bonus promised by CIBER was never paid out by HTC. 

* 401K match sounds promising, but when you find out what the cap is, it's absurd. You might as well open a savings account, for the return you'll get. 

Do yourself a favor. Unless you are desperate for a paycheck, look elsewhere.

Consultant experiences are 'all over the place': I worked as an individual on a client site, and also did WFH for Ciber (in both cases, was very isolated, felt disconnected). 

Also worked at managed service for a major company. In those cases, best bring major 'clique' skills! (suck up & schmooze to get/keep good assignments.)

After contract is over, it's hit or miss re. getting a new assignment.  Saw a LOT of talented consultants let go -- even for personality issues with client -- while popular people were carried between assignments. (Bad for morale.) Personally, I was not rewarded for achieving certification (which was highly encouraged), nor considered for next-rung jobs.

Meanwhile, people who DID get promotions had to put in major work on their own time. 

Not surprising this company went Chap 11, poorly managed on many levels!

The people / culture / environment are awesome.  Most of recruiters and sales work remote or partially remote.  Awesome sales team and , before covid, high amounts of demand (REQs) coming in and great relationships in place to influence hiring managers to review and interview our candidates leading to more hires.  Reputable, long term clients and we don’t typically work on VMS black holes that waste our time and don’t lead to hires.  Flexible / family friendly.  

Benefits could use some tweeting.  More PTO in addition to 5 mandated sick days.  Lower deductibles for quality tier 1 health/medical coverage.  Need far more transparency for the back office teams.
