I thought working from home would be great. The job itself wasn't difficult--entering data from files into a program. You were expected to keep your error rate to below a certain percentage, which makes sense. But, the company constantly changed the rules and kept increasing the workload. Also, QAs contradicted each other, charging errors without being able to explain why. How can QAs doing the same job disagree on what should be an error??? You never knew from one week to the next what your performance review would look like--it depended on who was doing the review. Management will threaten employees with termination if quotas aren't met, and push you to work faster and faster, which of course results in more errors. You'll give yourself tendonitis trying to keep up. Management, supervisors and QAs treat you like a robot. The company provides some healthcare benefits, dental, vision, etc. but the employees can't afford the premiums. Employees are on Medicaid and food stamps because the pay is so low. Disgraceful. You'd think with all the money they're saving on overhead they'd at least pay a livable wage. It's a government contract so you know someone is making some money, but it's on the backs of the lower-level employees doing all the work, and you are expendable. Don't fall for the allure of working from home. Not worth it.

I recently resigned my position because of the treatment and behavior of the Heitech Supervisor I worked under. I and others have made numerous complaints regarding the supervisor's behavior. I mention that because I don't feel the higher ups have taken the complaints seriously enough to do anything about her. She continues to exhibit the same behavior. 

I feel like they could do a lot more to promote their employees. I was turned down by HeiTech for a promotion because of an education requirement. I received an education waiver from the primary holder of the contract (HeiTech was a sub-contractor) and was still turned down. I had received multiple references in favor of my getting the position and was still turned down by HeiTech. 

They do have decent benefits however their tuition reimbursement includes training other than standard college/universities, however those are not clearly listed in their benefits package or their website. We only found out through asking a rep that came to our site for a luncheon. 

The site I worked at implemented some rules that made it hard to continue to work there. The work lulled and they banned books or music and replaced it with hours of training session and so called team building. The job itself was easy enough.

Work with this company for a year and a half. At first this company work great for me. I was recently separated from the military and wanted to generate income. My mother helped me obtain employment, she worked there also. In 3 months time she was fired. Upon driving to work they packed her things, and locked her computer. She had no idea she was fired, until she went to a co-worker and informed them that she could not login. Sad thing is Maryland in an at-will state and can fire you without cause. I was laid off after working under a high stressed, obnoxious Manager, and belittling HR department. Made a complaint on my supervisor that she trying to run our data entry line like a sweatshop. Mind you this was the 3rd HR individual they hired within the year. All in all this company gets contracts, pays employees great, you do have to play politics and kiss up to maintain your job. This is all at a records management level. Imagine accounting...

The work itself is very repetitive. Dress code is casual. Coworkers and supervisors are friendly. Sometimes they will switch people to different processes based on the needs of the contract. They will train people in groups in a class-type setting and will be thorough. If you have any questions for the supervisors or team leads, they will answer it or find the answer for you. There were two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break while I worked there. They are strict about being on-time to clock in or out; they do not want you to clock in/out early or late. There may or may not be required over-time based on the needs of the contract. If there is overtime, it may be at another location.

Low pay, but good experience to get you to a higher paying career in the future. No perks such as small breakfast. Other higher departments offer  nice catered lunches such as Panera Bread, but to bring morale up the company makes suggestions for the supportive departments to do pot lucks and have us pay for our own lunches.  The pay is so low that many people who work here cant even afford housing, apartments or a reliable vehicles. So from the stories I hear people sleep in there cars, live with other family members. They offer 1.65 hours of personal leave when you first start,so if you need to take off you end up using the little bit of leave you do get. I feel like at least big people 4 hours of personal leave a pay period.

Work is generally the same each day so you know what to expect, but it can change with little notice. Have to meet production and quality goals, but if you understand your job most are easy to accomplish.

Management is quick to respond to any concerns and most co-workers are easy to get along with. Have learned about the processes we perform and the impact it has on various individuals and companies.

Great benefits such as PTO, healthcare, 401(k) etc. Overall a nice, easy company to work for and they do what they can to address any concerns you might have.

Was apprehensive to leave my job before this one. But, thought change is scary but I’ll be fine. This company and the site I was assigned too, need to send the management, to management classes, update their technology, and strictly higher people that are trying to obtain workforce skills. I was mislead into thinking I would be learning or participating in something phenomenal. Bottom line, I ended up stressed out, and very unhappy. HeiTech, needs to have their employees backs instead of automatically punishing the employee. Learn that you do not allow anybody to disrespect or treat your staff like their less than. There is so much more I can write but, I do not have the time. Let’s just say....I left before my one year anniversary!

Since I have started working for the Data Entry Department, the department has downsized from 50 plus people to only 3 people. There has been little to no advancement options for Data Entry employees, so therefore looking for other options outside of Heitech Inc. The work can be very monotonous, although the information is somewhat interesting. Direct management is quite helpful, especially my current manager although high management does not give good recognition.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at the company was being off all major holidays.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was working with employees that didn’t listen or was rude and the company did nothing about it.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was too much drama. The environment was overwhelming with other employees

Heitech is the current contractor to Homeland Security, USCIS, INS. As a
contractor we had several operations that we handled on a everyday basis
entrying, editing, researching, working directly with Homeland security
Agents, FBI, ICE. The position required a seven year background check and goverment clearance to be allowed to work there. Some of the programs that we
used on a daily basis was
NFTS, RFACS, NCIC, CIS, CLAIMS, CLAIMS3, CLAIMS4. I had to receive
additional clearance to use some of the programs listed above
