The company has great people but has become an employment merry-go-round and a management disaster. Leadership at HSP has a way of making employees feel unwanted and unvalued as they distribute positive feedback like the proverbial tossing of manhole covers. During my time, I was unable to build internal relationships and understand individual expectations as staff turned over rapidly commonly citing the feeling of not being appreciated.  The workday is supposed to start at 9 but most people mosey in around 9-10ish. It's very social, and lots of time in the lunchroom and hallways talking about work but very little taking place during what should be the most productive time of day. The company made projections based on a flawed premise of growth in a down economy so they have experienced a series of layoffs with threats of more, which can't be good for moral.  They try to keep staff engaged with the occasional  event, but if offered, most people would probably prefer stable long-term employment versus a game of office bingo and stale cake once a month.

HSP lacks a bit of direction when it comes to career growth. There are definitely very few opportunities to move up in your career, so be sure to take advantage of any opportunities that you see.

While the workplace culture is encouraging and fun, the pay is alright at best. You'll have to work your butt off for a raise, and even then, good luck.

On a system, the support systems are heavily flawed and upgrades do not come often at all, so you'll have to diagnose a lot of problems on the fly and learn incredibly quickly.

I learned a lot here, but I'm glad it's only a stepping stone in my career.

The work was rather easy from day to day though very often in my position I ran out of work to do and constantly had to go inquire what to do next. The company and clients are primarily conservative/die-hard republicans who talk mostly about politics each day. I did not feel comfortable sharing my views for fear of losing my job or feeling ostracised. Looking past the office politics, the job was fairly simple and my department was friendly to me. Soda & coffee were always stocked in the kitchen as well as several free food events to keep up moral.

A typical day at work included the following functions:
Checking my phone and email to respond to client concerns.  Retrieving billing logs and preparing them for billing. Processing cash receipts, and various financial reports.  I enjoyed being part of this successful direct mail company and a dynamic environment that motivated employees to reach the company goal.

HSP Direct is a positive work environment.  I am learning a great deal about management, data analytics, and client relations and procurement. The culture is geared toward driven conservative individuals looking to help make an impact through developing direct mail fundraising programs tailored to their clients.

Would greet clients at the front and get them settled for meetings. Make sure meeting room was clean and set up. Direct phone calls to correct personnel. Make sure all client mail was scanned and uploaded to website for Team and Clients to view. Distribute all mail to team members.

it is a non profit company. it is a slow place to work .but it is small private company. hardly have space to move up. the job is very stable. well when you are getting into the position, things turn to be easy. well,the boss is nice.if the company reach the gold of the year. you will get pay for the vacation for whole family and seven days. that is awesome.

The work environment is very collaborative and friendly. Everyone respects each other. The managers have an open door policy. There are a lot of great compensation benefits.

Great clients and great people. Fun environment, lots of events like corn hike tournaments and fancy Christmas party. Employees encouraged to give feedback for improvement. great benefits. Love working here!!
