I'm basing my experience while working in the Corporate office location. So far, it's been good and my coworkers are friendly. My workload is enough to allow me to have a sense of work & life balance and I still manage to process a lot of payments on a weekly basis. 

On the other hand, I get the impression that certain departments, such as the staff accountants, are working extra hours to handle issues that are caused by the systems that we're using. Issues that really shouldn't be there to begin with, such as kicking out due dates on invoices by 30 days when it should be DUR, as well as multiple bills not being able to update. 

Furthermore, unless you have management skills and are okay with relocating to one of the communities as a business office director, there's not much room for advancement and the compensation isn't quite up to my expectations. Especially in Southern California. 

If you are going to be working at their corporate office, just be highly proficient in Excel, and the basics of macros if you can. That alone should help out to compensate for the pitfalls of the system that we have to work with.

Complete responsibility for all aspects of start-up, operations and transition of independent, assisted living and Alzheimer’s care facilities new to ISL’s third-party management portfolio. Branding and/or re-branding of image and market positioning of existing assisted living and dementia care facilities. Project management of new construction including, pre-leasing and start up for senior independent active living community. Source, recruit, hire, train and supervise department head and executive director level managers for new and existing senior housing projects newly managed by ISL. Negotiate contracts and develop relationships with local vendors, associations, physicians and health care organizations.

I have become a better, faster, and more well rounded accountant working with ISL. Although short staffed in the past with extra hours needed to complete tasks; this is not the case now. Culture is huge in this company and the higher ups practice what the culture every day. Teamwork is a great part of this environment with everyone working together to get a task completed by the deadline. Deadlines, as with any accounting job, can be the most difficult part of this job.
Hard work is not only appreciated, but rewarded. I have been promoted twice working with ISL. I would recommend this company to anyone who works well within both a team and individual work environment. Autonomy is big here, so if you need constant reminders of what you should be doing this may not be the company for you; however, if you are self managing you would most likely thrive.

The typical work day starts with a ton of emails to shift through, I emphasize, I ridiculous amount of emails.  Poor direction from management (Controller included).  Staff and Senior Accountants have no guidance on consistent procedures, everyone fending for themselves.  One of the problems is not properly implementing process and procedures, but steady acquiring/ partnering to manage more portfolios, when you can maintain what you already have.  NO WORK LIFE BALANCE! You are salaried, so they will expect the Accounting staff to stay and work 12 hour days, work on weekends to catch up by taking home laptop to work.  We wore the stress on our face everyday, stuff working through breaks and lunch to meet unrealistic deadlines.

This company is the worst I’ve ever worked for in my entire career. Management uses the residents as pawns in their “marketing” techniques, never bothering to listen to how the residents actually feel about situations. It’s all about making money with them. They claim they promote a culture of honesty and ethics, but I was instructed to do some pretty shady and illegal things just to get case managers to refer to the community. Nothing but backstabbing, manipulative liars working in upper management. Thank goodness I ran far away from that destructive place.

Don’t forget this is a corporation, I learned a lot in the beginning, but the benefits here suck. You are working for a corporation so there goal is to keep costs down. I think there was a lot of negative just at my building alone not necessarily because of the company, just with management and the negative environment. At this building you were mostly seen as a body to fill a position I had management tell me that before about other coworkers, they would overshare and say things that should not have been repeated to other coworkers.

I worked for this company for a few months. It was the worst experience in senior living of my entire career. They were liars and bullies, forcing us to do things the residents were not happy with. The regionals were awful. HR pretended to care, but never answered calls when there was bullying happening in the community. I am grateful for ISL teaching me what communities and our seniors, do not need. There are wonderful companies and people to work for in senior living, ISL is definitely not one of them.

I have worked for Integral Senior Living for almost 6 years. Within these years I have been given the opportunity to grow within the company. Amongst many perks to working for ISL, my favorite is the culture. ISL promotes independence. We are given  the opportunity to be ourselves & get creative within regulations. As in all businesses it is up to the employee to take the tools they are given and thrive. Isl provides the tools... it is up to the individual to execute.

No support, constant negativity, no training, no integrity, no work-life balance, very difficult to take PTO, a lot of miscommunication.  Unorganized, constant chaos which cause us to be constantly reacting.  A LOT of turnover due to toxic work environment/mean girl mentality.  Regionals talked negatively about staff at one community to staff at other communities.  Very unprofessional organization.

At first it seems like a great place to work. Excited to go in, residents are sweet. But if you work well management will quickly try to overwork you to burnout. They’ll act as if you’re valued but they’ll all be up in there offices talking about everyone behind their backs. Two faced an Fake. Favoritism is big here. They will throw you under the bus as soon as you are no longer being their puppet.
