I worked in a physician office which was also an urgent care, so office hours varied from early morning to evening and weekends. Patients would already be lined up at the door before we opened and I had to make sure that they were registered and roomed in prep for the doctor. I had to triage patient's chief complaints and direct them to the appropriate facility if our doctors were not able to see them.I was the referral specialist and had to maintain authorization from patient's insurances before referring them to a specialist per our doctors request. My co-workers were fun and supportive, and we all felt confident in our work performance and management. We constantly had pharmaceutical reps come in and learned a lot about the prescriptions that we prescribed and offered to patients. The hardest part of this job was turning away patients that our practice could not help them with. The most enjoyable part of my job was developing relationships with patients. They knew that they could rely on our practice and always came back to us.

a typical day at work is me waxing and stripping floors.ive learned how to strip and wax a floor useing various waxes and i learned a skill that i will possess for the rest of my life.my immediate manager was the guy who took the time to show me how to wax properly and in doing so i was saving the department thousands of dollars sothey wouldd not have to have contractors come in a wax so he taught  me this skill and over the years i perfected it. i was able to learn from my mistakes and keep my bosses happy with the quallity of work i was produceing.the hardest part of the job was that i had to do it all by my self.i would set up by myself ,wax by myself, and clean up the mess by myself, however i was the only employee out of 150 employees who took on the challenge of waxing and stripping because it was a very physical job.but the smiles on my bosses face when i made that floor shine made it all worth it.the most enjoyable part of the job is the thanks and gratitude i'd get when i turn an awful floor into and awesome floor.i was turning floors into mirrors by makeing them shine so hard.

This is not a good place to work for anyone seeking to grow their career. It is a great place to work for people looking to end their careers here. Very little gets done, and things move very slowly - even slower than in civil service. On the flip side, it's job security with very little work.

High turnover seems to be a shared sentiment across other reviews. Since one of the elements that a manager gets rated on in their performance review is turnover rate, the high turnover rate indicates employee dissatisfaction with their managers (not with the company).

The Product Manager position is a fake. They have been interviewing for at least 18 months. If you interview with them, ask them how long they have been looking for a PM, how many people they have interviewed, and why is it taking the so long to find someone for a role that a high school student can do. Companies sometimes engage in this practice to secure internal funding from Finance, and for that line item to carry over into the next fiscal cycle. I list this as a Con because I feel this is an unethical practice.

A typical day for me was the first person to open my department considered "Cash Posting" area. The day would start by downloading the previous day's postings and reconciling with general accounting 
in order to balance the previous days work. The day would move on by downloading 
check files through "Wells Fargo Merchant" website and transferring files to an excel spreadsheet in order to either manually or electronically post to the patients accounts, this would be the same type of process for credit card payments all preprocessed from 
Wells Fargo Lockbox. Once these tasks are completed I would move onto electronically or manually posting Insurance payments which would sometimes include several electronic all error's and old take time to investigate the posting error's.

I enjoyed learning new tasks or taking on task and training other employee's.. I worked with a great group of women some of us longer then other's my particular group consisted of 4 women and we all shared or traded tasks weekly or monthly depending on what the job was.

Working at John Muir Health as an Assistant Project Manager was a great learning experience for me. I completed new tasks everyday. Most of my duties required me to work on Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft outlook and Microsoft excel. I created many drawings of the new Outpatient Center in Walnut Creek that enabled Project Managers and IT analyst to navigate around the new building without much difficulty. I also worked closely with the Project Managers of the IT department and on somedays I would work as an IT technician. I managed the budget by creating budget proposals. The hardest part of the job was to please all of the Project Managers at once. It seems like they would always bump heads and have different opinions, i did what I thought was best for the situation. The most enjoyable part of the job was the interaction with everyone (CEOs, Project Managers, Technicians and everyone that moved to the new Outpatient center. I met a lot of great people.

I started my work out at 1am at my first care home. I would typically go to 5 care homes every morning and then drive into the office when my run was done. Once I got to the office I would order my specimens along with other co-workers. After everything was ordered the co-workers and I would transport them into our other computer system. My co-workers were fun to be around for the most part and we all got along or at least were civil to each other. What I really enjoyed about my job were my patients, they always seemed to make my day no matter how I was feeling. I tried not to make work hard for myself, but evey now and then I would say it was hard when I would have a difficult patient to draw. The management could have been a little bit better, but overall they were good about running things. This job taught me how to be a lot more patient and understanding.

Overwhelming amount of work load, too many roles packed into one position, the position should have been made into two different positions. Couldn’t ever complete any task because of the constant interruptions due to escalated calls or constant walk in patients. couldn’t  ever give the individual attention to details and patients that was needed. Felt overwhelmed even to come in to work because the workload was never ending. Felt as if there was an never ending pile. The rules changed everyday, so you never knew if what you were doing was correct until a mistake was made and then it was a BIG mistake that cause a meeting....this entire department should be re-evaluated has to how business was conducted with new management. This position should have been a remote position in order to get your work done but wasn’t ever offered due to the stress factor and the commute.

I enjoy coming to work everyday. As an IT consultant I am working directly with the public, as well as the staff. I am able to educate people regarding password security and how best to apply it. The management went out of their way to ensure I had a prime location and comfortable seating and supplies. The most difficult part of the job was getting people online (figuratively and literally) to sign up for the online service as it was to their benefit to be able to access the John Muir Health system on line. The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing people's reaction when I demoed the online services and how they could communicate directly through the online service. People went home and then often came back to personally thank me for setting them up.

I enjoyed working at John Muir, I enjoyed working with the patients and my former coworkers. I also enjoyed the culture and the benefits. I worked at John Muir as a receptionist for about 3 years. However, I had left because I was not happy with the managers I had last worked with. They were not professional and did not manage our office accordingly. The office was unorganized and they had only visited this office maybe once a month for a couple of hours a day. When I would see our managers, they would be gossiping and on their phones. I attempted to voice my questions and concerns several times, only for them to be left unanswered and disregarded. I highly recommend John Muir to train anyone in management to treat ALL of their employees fairly and respectfully.
Aside from management, John Muir is a great company to work for.

Flexible work schedule, decent benefits and pay.

Some emphasis on improving work-place culture for employees not contractors. 

Decent dining options, employee engagement activities, and different sites to work at. 

However, technology, processes and departments are out dated. A lot of red-tape, poor/lack of communication between management and labor force. Waste of resources, no accountability and overall a toxic environment because of old-school mentalities from managers that have stayed on for decades. 

A lot of bitter attitudes passed down from superiors to middle management. No innovation, gratitude, or transparency from leadership. Buyouts, acquisitions and poor business choices.

A lot of drama behind the scenes despite all the well-dressed people. So despite the positives not worth the drama.
