Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Hospice Chaplain and Bereavement Coordinator to join our dedicated team. This vital role combines spiritual leadership, emotional support, and bereavement services to patients, families, and staff navigating the challenges of terminal illness and loss. The ideal candidate will bring energetic engagement, strong communication skills, and a heartfelt commitment to providing holistic care rooted in faith-based principles. As a key member of our nonprofit organization, you will foster spiritual well-being, facilitate meaningful conversations around grief, and coordinate bereavement programs that uplift and comfort those in need.

Responsibilities

Provide spiritual guidance and pastoral counseling to patients facing terminal illness, ensuring their spiritual needs are honored with sensitivity and respect.
Lead religious services, prayer sessions, and spiritual rituals tailored to diverse faith backgrounds within the hospice setting.
Offer bereavement support through individual counseling, support groups, and educational workshops for grieving families and caregivers.
Develop and implement comprehensive bereavement programs that include outreach events, memorial services, and community engagement initiatives.
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams—including social workers, medical staff, and volunteers—to ensure holistic patient care that integrates spiritual and emotional support.
Conduct public speaking engagements, educational presentations, and religious studies to foster understanding of spiritual care practices within the community.
Manage crisis intervention situations with compassion, utilizing conflict management and crisis management skills to provide immediate emotional relief.
Mentor new team members and volunteers in religious teachings, pastoral theology, and effective communication strategies for sensitive conversations.

Requirements

Proven experience working as a clergyperson or in religious leadership within a nonprofit faith-based organization.
Strong background in biblical theology, religious studies, or related fields with an emphasis on Christian counseling or pastoral theology.
Demonstrated ability to provide terminal illness counseling and grief support with empathy and professionalism.
Excellent presentation skills suitable for public speaking engagements and educational workshops.
Experience working with culturally diverse communities to ensure inclusive spiritual care practices.
Skilled in event planning, crisis intervention, conflict management, and mentoring roles within faith-based or healthcare settings.
Exceptional written communication skills for documentation, program development, and community outreach materials.
Ability to work collaboratively with families during emotionally charged times while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.
