At Main Line Health there is a pervasive Lack of a cordial working environment that discourages and demotivates their employees. Especially at Lankneau hospital  (Emergency Dept ) it's painfully clear that-there is a pervasive type of Unilateral communication from top to bottom that renders the employees ignorant and unaware of the matters of the organization. which i have seen typically exhibited by the clinical leads on every shift this usually results in an autocratic leader ie (Clinical Lead) that misuse her powers by taking harsh actions against people who do not follow her dictum. The bully manager is at home here : The only thing worse than another kid stealing your lunch money is working for one of those bullies — they might have grown up, but in the adult environment of the workplace, bullies can be even worse because they’ve refined their techniques over the years.

Unlike the stereotype of a bully as a ham-fisted thug, bully bosses have sufficient social skills to figure out who and how they need to coerce to get ahead on the job — which many do

At Main Line Health Lankeneau Division (Emergency Medicine  Dept) I have personally witnessed  many of the clinical  leads ,Who-in many cases  get their position because they have the ability to conform to the rules and not because of their leadership qualifications. This type of leadership does not have the scope for innovation and creativity. i have witnessed the end result which is  the demotivating of the nurses and ancillary employees as the clinical lead may act as a strict ''policy police''. As Expected  the turnover rate has been horrific ,as a result of-this archaic leadership style it has produced a work environment  resulting in a very palpable toxic and stressful place to work .



i am absolutely convinced that transparency is no existent at main line health and quite possibly an irreverent term to the current management team 
There are a number of different kinds of transparency i could talk about when we talk about building a transparent corporate culture.; there’s internal transparency in regards to information and communication; and there’s external transparency regarding the public.
Research and studies have shown that a transparent corporate culture improves morale and increases the bottom line, and my  own experience has confirmed those results,

it is clear that transparency and new information and honest discussion empower and educated employees. I feel management
ie the clinical leads at the (Lankeneau Emergency Dept) are a big part of the problem because their approach to managing employees are not solution oriented. this is because this corporate culture is obviously endorsing this archaic style that 
is counterproductive to Having a work force thats is motivated and encouraged to grow and thrive in a caring nurturing  work environment. This would have  a significant effect in curtailing attrition and encouraging employee retention.

Specialized in continuous monitoring of patients’ cardiac rhythms and vital signs, ensuring early detection of critical changes.
Interpreted telemetry data and responded swiftly to arrhythmias and other cardiac events, reducing response time to emergencies.
Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care and safety, improving patient outcomes. Administering specialized cardiac medications and managing IV infusions/drips, collaborating closely with cardiologists and hospitalists to stabilize deteriorating patients.
Demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills by efficiently prioritizing care for an assignment-heavy caseload in a fast-paced environment.

Workplace culture is respectful towards the nurses and techs. Some doctors can be very knowledgeable and professional and present in your care as your patients; others are not present and unwilling to listen to your concerns.

The hardest part of the job is continuously monitoring telemetry patients, critical ill patients; some days can have a lot of discharges, admissions, and transfers. The doctors are not always communicative when you reach out and are not involved in the patient's care. Double rooms for patients are not favored by patients, families, and nurses. Working understaffed. Not having ceiling-mounted slings for patient transfers. 

The most enjoyable parts of the job are the patient population and the work culture among co-workers. It's a rewarding experience to advocate for patients and be appreciated.  
 


Where do I begin??

Poorly managed Patient Accounting Dept.
No adequate training
Very tense environment 
Management is completely unorganized- therefore the work is completely unorganized.
Supervisors are not helpful- some do not even allow their employees to approach them with questions.
It's a sink or swim environment 
Non competitive pay
Prejudice environment

A lot of negative office gossip and cattiness that circulates throughout the entire dept. Some of the management gets involved with the negativity and tries to reprimand employees based off of "rumors" or lies that are told. 

Only smokers are allowed to take multiple breaks and 1 hr lunch.

Lunches are exactly 1 hr and you must sign in/out in front of a supervisor or you'll be reprimanded.

The building is separate from the hospital so they try to keep human resources away as much as possible because of all of the harassing non sense that goes on.

Heavy work load- great if you like to stay busy
Overtime is offered frequently
If you're a fast self-learner that's about the only way you'll truly be able to effectively pick up on the work. Leads and supervisors depending on the specific dept are not much help.

There is no room for advancement and it is almost impossible to transfer to another site within the company because this particular dept carries a bad reputation. 

If you're in desperate need of a job- get in, get your experience and get out! If you can afford to look elsewhere do so! This place has a very high turnover rate!

i thoroughly enjoyed working at paoli hospital.
My staff that i served on third shift .. i couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with.. From the nurses, techs respiratory, supervisors.... all of them. I was injured by a coworker ... that thankfully even though i can no longer physically do the position i had before... he is now terminated. Its a shame that it dint happen before i was injured.. because i would still be there... i fully enjoyed and miss working with them. wanted to be vested in a pension and grow with the company... but now i have to start over and look for a less physical position.. i love working in the healthcare system ....
i had my music on while i pulled my stock and flew around the hospital. stocking and answering the pager and helping in any way that i could. i felt so very much needed by my co workers ... i just thought if my family was in there ... they would need my full attention so they can get the proper care and supplies. My co worker on 3rd caused me to have an injury that was due to his irresponsibility. and was later terminated. but if he would have been reprimanded previously.. i would still be there ... miss it very much. i have to start all over now. raising my young grandchildren and i am looking for a job that is not so physical as the stocking position.

When I started working at BMH I didn’t understand why so many nurses and other professionals were leaving and complaining non-stop about the amount of work and hours they had to cover for people missing, but after a couple months of working there, I did.
The staff is friendly, but management is A MESS. The head of nurses and the assistant to the head of nurses DID NOT know what they were doing. I applied on October 2020 and for various problems from HR, the management, and the people in charge of my application, I started working IN MAY 2021. (They did not even apologize for the amount of time they took to get me to work there)
The nurses and the MHTs in the unit are amazing people. But management, makes it a horrible place to work at. 
I had a really bad experience with them, not only throughout the application process, but during my time working there. I was per-diem (meaning I would choose my own hours and days to work) and the assistant to the head of nurses took it upon himself to, not only add me into the schedule without my approval or knowledge (knowing that I was a full time student and that was the reason for my per diem position) ,but also approve those shifts himself since he was the one in charge of the schedule. He was found responsible for these, and never apologized for his behavior towards myself.

This was my experience last year. They fired the manager in the unit around the time I left, so you might have a different experience if you get to work there!

I work in the Same Day Surgey Center and the group of people I work with from day to day our awesome. It's a beautiful thing to work with people who advocate for patient care and safety as strongly as I do. In the mornings, I help pre op the patients for surgery. There was a patient who came in who said they wasn't  feeling to well and as I continued to talk to the patient they began to slur. I automatically called a stroke code. I wasn't sure that was what was happening but just to be safe, I thought i should. Upon further testing, the patient indeed was having a stroke. Everyone jumped into action. Our unit is just like a well oiled machine. My manager is a great leader, making sure that patient was wel taken care of and that all proper procedures and protocols were being followed. My co-workers are hardy working busy bees always looking to help one another and to make sure we set the patient care standard. The hardest part of my job is  trying to calm psntients  when they're about to have possible life alterring surgies. I do my best to assure them we have the best medical care team and evryone on our staff is very competent. The most enjoyable part of my job is having the oppurtunity to learn from so many different professionals in various situations, backgrounds and procedures. I'm a knowledge junkie and love to learn. I'm very fortunate that I work with people who love to share what they know and have learned along their journey.

A typical day at work is to come in, turn on the machine. Then turn on the 6 different applications that are used. Turn on the other computer that has the mammogram schedule on it. That same computer is the one that has  the orders for the procedures. that have been entered by the practice staff. Sometimes they are not there. 
Then in another of our applications, we check to see that the demographics have been entered.
After the patient arrives, we check the demographics and add them to the work list so that the patient information comes up on our machine to do the actual mammogram.
After the mammogram we order the priors, move the patient to the area that holds the information for patients waiting for orders.
We send out letters to patients and doctors. We notate that in our system. If there are special diagnostic films? We suggest they call and give them our number. 
We are also responsible for whether or not the patient calls back in the necessary time frame, recall the patients--note that, and send letters if we get no response. We also keep track of that. We keep track of what the patient had done besides the mammogram.
There are quite a lot more steps to do for each patient. 



Work-life balance
As a current employee I feel it’s my duty to warn potential new hires about current practices at MLHS. It used to be a good place to work, they valued their employees and raises were based on evaluations. You were valued for the individual strengths you brought to the job. That has ended. Nurses are now considered interchangeable and you will be pulled to other campuses without being oriented and with only 1-1.5 hours notice. Imagine being called at 5:30 am or pm and told that instead of going the hospital where you were hired and oriented to work you now need to go to another campus, where the unit practices and equipment are different- you don’t know the employees, where to park or even where the unit is located. Your badge doesn’t work for the supply rooms, you don’t know where the supply rooms are even and the ability to obtain medications is delayed because you don’t have access to the Pixis. Complaints to management fall on deaf ears, or rather they promise they will make it better but they don’t. Is that somewhere you want to work? I’ve worked here for 25 years and I used to love it. Save yourself some anxiety and look elsewhere. Oh yea- and we didn’t get raises this year and all retirement benefits were frozen.

Typical day working at Mainline Health System was a very busy work schedule. More than often working very short staffed due to company budgets, which was very understandable at times. Daily schedule to perform routine draws from nursing facilities along with long term care facilities,outpatients setting, private homebound draws. Very high pasted department for lab draws. Assuring that all specimens were drawn and delivered in a timely fashion for processing and delivered resulting. The position as a Lead Phlebotomist, I would return to The Outreach Office to retrieve and address all necessary issues or concerns that may have arrived upon the am shifts. Complete all necessary documentation for daily review and meetings with Department Mangement for daily updates. Assure that all needed supplies were available for phlebotomist to perform their daily task. Review schedules to make any needed adjustments or changes. Review re-draws and resend phlebotomist to obtain missed lab work or hard sticks that may have not been collected in the am morning draws.

I was initially excited to work at Riddle Hospital but after being there for 7 months I saw there was a lack of communication with the respiratory department I was working in and the department manager was very unprofessional. He would harass workers through text messaging due to him letting to many people off on certain days or just lack of coverage. When I tried to communicate with the respiratory manager he did not want to be contacted he would refer you to another team member but when communication was dropped with the team member he wanted you to contact he would harass you at his will to try to get answers. I loved the way the respiratory department spent time with their patients and educated the patients on their respiratory issues but the department manager made it hard for me to stay on staff because he was not concerned with any thing that went on until after it became a big issue. He was never satisfied and the staff always felt they were covering for his mistakes all the time. If there was better management in the respiratory department I would have definitely stay on staff because I liked working with the staff and the philosophy  of educating patients about their respiratory disease.
