Homeless veterans were often treated like children or convicts as a result of oppressive policy making.  It is wrong to treat people in such a manner, especially while they are down and out.  They deserved much more respect than they received. 

While working at their clinic, I noticed double billing of insurance companies was occurring.  I know this because when I would go to enter my case notes on a client, they would sometimes be shown in the data entry program to have been with a counselor at the same time they were actually with me.  I reported this to a supervisor but no action was taken.  I have been told that the agency has been in trouble for it since my departure.

I was once interrogated by the program supervisor and the company ombudsman over lies that had been told to them.  I told them they should ask the clients about my performance instead of believing the words of jealous or envious coworkers who had previously told me that my work ethic was making them look bad.  My words seemed to mean nothing to them. 
 
We were assigned a new supervisor (B) that some of the clients were not very welcoming to.  I told them they didn't know her and should give her a chance.  She later thanked me for doing this.  After our first staff meeting several days later, she could tell there was some tension in the room as a result of recent events that the supervisor (A) she was being trained to replace had set in motion over the previous several days.  Supervisor A was bitter about being transferred and angry that her departure had been leaked to the clients before she wanted to make the announcement herself.  That leak came from someone in another office.  She asked me directly and I told her I said nothing about it.  I told her which client had been told this, and that she should ask her who it was that leaked it.  She was also upset that a subordinate she had asked to transfer with her said no. 
So the new supervisor, B, asked us what was wrong.  I told her and my coworker that we should not talk about it right now.  She insisted to hear it, so my coworker asked her if it could be kept confidential.  Supervisor B then said, "Yes."  We told her what had been going on.  She went to her supervisor(s), including supervisor A, and told them what she had just heard.  I knew that was the beginning of the end for me there.  That was also the case for my coworker that had asked Supervisor B for confidentiality.

Before you consider anything I have to say, let the facts speak for themselves. Cliffview Recovery Center had at-least 6 different program directors in the last year. They have been open for just a little over a year & remain short staffed the entire time. It was normal for any of the Peer Support / RCA to be working  anywhere from 13-17 hours, normally 5 days a week. During my 6 months working I was often left alone working days or nights with several  co-ed clients. No position is given a scheduled lunch or break at anytime. They’ll let you eat or use the restroom if you have to, but there’s never a moment you aren’t responsible for all the clients at all times. For 13-17 hours straight, mostly working alone on shifts. The pay is unfair, you can work 60-65 hours a week and make just under $1,000 bi weekly. There was some management that was there for the right reasons & really good at their job, very kind people. But not a lot of stability as far as leadership. Too many hands in the fire. Even upper management often expressed how poor the communication is between staff & leadership. There are some who are working there for the right reasons and will be supportive to new employees but it’s rare. There’s absolutely no job security. We were often told by management in meetings they could barley afford the employees they currently have. Which at the time was under half of what they legally need on shift per amount of clients. Often clients would have serious assault charges of many kinds and staff would be alone day or night. Many of us were threatened of being written up if we asked to leave before we had finished everything required EVEN if the morning shift changes go over 30 mins plus every shift change. I was made to miss appointments and important priorities often for fear of being written up / on probation if we were held over more than 30 mins past our scheduled end of shift. Multiple staff members would get in serious trouble, usually called out in-front of their peers or clients by the facility nurse so that she may inform them it is absolutely unacceptable to use any of the facilities kitchen condiments on their packed lunches from home. That’s right, if you use too much ketchup or an extra sprinkle of cheese it will be brought up in a meeting infront of everyone. Also a huge problem with staff having relations with clients in only the short year they’ve been open.

Postives first, love the clients, love the front staff, like the actual job, but the play favorites high schooler power trip environment is awful here.

Jobs ok* for just out of college and to learn the first ins outs of mental health or peer support, but no real potential for the long term. 

You are on your own from the start, there is no training  no good supervision and no real guidance, youll be guessing at how to do group, or case management or therapy right,  and how to make the documents and stuff for it.

Like ypu will be going to other coworkers who have been there like a few months hoping they know the answer because your supervisor does nothing or literally ignores/refuses to help you. 

Pay is only fine at bachelors degree level when you have no experience, no family or overhead, its crazy low for masters or anything like that that uses a license, and the benefits are really bad if you are not just one person, it costs over a grand a month to add a person to health insurance and like another 250 or 300 a kid, so literally your whole check, 1500$+ if you even make that here which you wont because they think 40k is alot to start. Its different pay for every employee, not based on experience AT ALL, while its all the same jobe and same expectation same duties,  because its unfair and biased, and seems to be about who you know or are related to, and its all the same job, same job expectation of getting 100 direct hours at any cost to you with no help, you show up and see every person you can and if it doesnt add up to a 100 they dont care its not good enough. So yeah you get paid less to do literally 100% the same job as the person down the hall, for no reason. Also if you dont wanna do every extra thing they ask you to do for free after hours, they gossip about you and how your not part of the group so lets all get together and text about them now etc. its like that. Unprofessional to a T
Theres a few good people but they keep to themselves to avoid the mess. 

Mountain Comprehensive Care Center has been a worthwhile company to work for throughout my time being employed by them. While at work, I typically visit with clients at the school from 8am until 3pm and return to the clinic to complete paperwork and billings or meet with clients in the outpatient setting. I have learned a significant amount of diagnostic information, such as criteria, resources for SMI/SED populations, and which programs and clients would be best suited for each other. Management has been a positive experience for me because I have received quality supervision from my current supervisor ensuring that I am well-trained and knowledgeable of laws, policies, diagnostics, and therapeutic interventions. I have had a great experience with co-workers at MCCC. I get along with nearly everyone and I trust that I can consult with them regarding the tougher cases. The most difficult part of my job is to maintain the paperwork and ensure that it is up-to-date while balancing that with seeing clients the majority of the day. The best part of the job is having a flexible schedule and building personal time that can be used to help decrease burnout when needed.

Worked here for a bit in schools and at the outpatient clinic. At first was very stressful and is still incredibly stressful. There was very little training in the beginning, two days of how to use the medical records program and then a couple weeks of job shadowing. The person I shadowed basically taught me everything. There are people who have worked here for a couple years and still don’t know how to do intakes or treatment plans without someone looking over their shoulder, or the difference between Creekside, Riverside and The Ridge. Supervisor was helpful but clinic head was the most difficult person to deal with. Ever. Micromanaging, accusatory, rude, disrespectful. The direct time (time spent with clients) expectation has raised every year that I’ve been here, and it’s getting to the point that it’s just impossible to meet those standards. If people don’t want to be compliant and come to treatment, then they won’t and there’s very little a clinician can do about that. This position is wonderful for someone with a bachelors degree that wants to start out in this field, work for a year or through their masters, and then find somewhere that’s going to pay them more than $12 an hour for one of the most stressful careers out there. My advice is to get in, gain some experience, and then get out ASAP.

Assisted with medication done finger stick check blood pressure.I had two clients that I worked with and I did like working with them and making a difference in their life. After medication prepared breakfast done housekeeping some laundry and drive clients to Doctor appointments. The management was not there unless you done something wrong and when they call you in for a meeting it was always on my days off. Waited to the last minuate to ask you to cover for other co-worker and would say they would cover or get coverage but had no coverage. Management needed more training and needed to be trained in people skills. I worked with only one lady at my house and she was rude never cleaned she was good at getting meds and correcting everything that I done made me feel like a child with all the sticky notes and correcting with her red pen.This was the hardest part of the job. co-worker and management made my life unbearable. The most enjoyable part of my job was taking the clients out shopping and going out for a day. I enjoyed talking and helping them shop, also exercising I would take them to the walking path and we would walk. Oh and the pay 8.00 Hr. but did have benifits.

This job has very minimal training and it’s very short, you spend around 2 days with a trainer in office, then shadow an MHA for around a month, then they hand you a huge binder and basically say good luck. They expect way more than what is attainable from an employee hours/billing wise.
 It is so so so much work that never stops, and being school based is especially difficult considering you are having to integrate within a school system and school staff, and they are not always very welcoming. This company expects 1 MHA to have a minimum of 55+caseload and you’re expected to see all 55+ clients every 2-4 weeks. They over work and under pay significantly.
 The only positive from this job was helping children, families, and making connections. The amount of stress and workload with minimal pay ultimately isn’t worth it. 
Also, notable for school-based MHA’s specifically, during summer break you are still required to reach the same amount of hours as if school was in session and expected to schedule meetings with client parents/guardians at various places during summer. It’s nearly impossible to reach the expected hours for Summer due to multiple factors, and you will get in trouble for it. Good luck!! 

Is every day easy? Absolutely not. There's a reason burnout is high in mental health as a whole. However, the clinic for which I work has superior leadership that is really encouraging and advocates for self-care. The fellowship among staff is unlike anywhere else I've ever worked. I've been here for 2 years and am always seeking ways to invest myself deeper into making it a successful clinic. You get what you give in this field. If you do the bare minimum, you won't find the gold that's truly waiting for you. If you have the ambition to dig and learn, you'll grow. Opportunities here are what you make them. In fact, I'm pursuing another Master's degree just so I can do more for the people we serve. Our clients are unquestionably the top priority, and it's a calling to meet those needs. If you're determined to make a difference, the opportunity is waiting for you here. If you're looking to have the same repetitious day to day without any challenges, then this is not the environment for you. We are here to serve people, change lives, and impact our community. Many of the therapists here are wonderful mental health providers. This is a beneficial service for the community. However, there were a lot of problems with management. If you are an outgoing, extroverted individual with a small-town conservative mindset, you may fit in well here. If you are more quiet or introverted you will not be accepted very well here. I would also be wary if you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, as they are not very open and welcoming to the community. The pay is low for the amount of work to complete this job in entry level positions. Yet upper management gets paid very well. Lots of focus on money where it should be on the clients and community. Supervisors also micro-manage employers.  There is also little flexibility in the schedule and you are occasionally required to work without pay if you get behind and need to catch up due to the overwhelming clientele stacked on the providers. Overall, working here was a negative experience for me and I would seek a service with more openness and empathy other than this company. 

I was hired as an IMPACT Services Coordinator, a children's mental health case manager position.  I worked with community resources to ensure children and their families receive the best care possible.  I coordinated multidisciplinary team meetings, was responsible for case plans and ensuring all team members followed through with the plans set in place. I kept all team members informed of success and areas where work was needed.  I assisted at home and school if there were any immediate issues regarding behaviors.   I went on home visits and worked with family members to understand medical conditions/mental health diagnosis.   I assisted parents/caretakers with behavior modification strategies. I also coordinated day camp for up to 30 students aged 5 to 18.  I arranged activities, transportation, meals/ snacks for the group. This included arts and crafts that were appropriate for each child.  Games and activities that promoted teamwork. Group activities revolving around therapeutic guidelines and to promote social skills.
