What is the best part of working at the company?
For a company and position that loans only to seniors, this company, in my opinion has age related discrimination of  their own loan officers,in their daily operations!  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You are tied to the computer and headset for 3-5 hours at a time without breaks.  You are penalized if you take more than a few seconds to answer an incoming call, and even if there are technical difficulties acknowledged by tech support you are continuously punished w/ fewer leads and incoming calls after resolved!!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unfriendly to their own, critical and stressful if you need any, I mean any, assistance with their software, and there were many glitches in it.  My phone number was incorrect for receiving calls and was acknowledged as such by tech support which caused me to be unable to run credit checks and I was humiliated by my immediate Mgr. for that difficulty in front of the whole team.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stress Filled!!!!!!  Constant surveillance and continuous meetings and unfair distribution, to me, of leads, ie incoming calls!!!!!!

When I first started as a loan officer, I didn't know it would turn into my life long career. Now, I couldn't imagine doing anything else. The management team has helped me learn more with every passing year. There is a LOT to learn in this industry and it's important to have a great team behind you to help you succeed. We have this not only on the sales side but also on the operational side. The workplace environment keeps it light even with a job that can be stressful at times (homes can under appraise, borrowers misstate income, etc, reasons why a loan might not close). The hardest part of the job is dealing with borrowers who can be extremely needy or entitled at times. But that's life. Dealing with society as a whole can bring all types of personalities. But the most rewarding part of the job isn't just the money (the money is amazing by the way. Life changing money). The most rewarding part is how we get to help people on a daily basis. It can be helping someone buy their first home, putting in a pool to build memories with their kids or my favorite, help someone get out of debt and put the borrower on a completely different trajectory where they can now breathe and live life once again. There is not another job I'd rather do!

What is the best part of working at the company?
I absolutely loved working there. I have over 20 years of working in the mortgage industry & this was the best company I ever worked for. Too bad when rates increased, business slowed & I was laid off, but I'd love to go back to working with them again. Great training, friendly common sense management, co-workers become like family. I still keep in contact with friends I have made while working there!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Like any mortgage job...just the stress of trying to fund as many loans as you can each month. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very friendly, no micro managing. They treat you like an adult & leave you alone knowing you will just work & do your job the best you can (which makes you actually want to work harder).

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
If you know the mortgage industry, its a typical day of getting through as many loans as possible & getting that "clear for docs".

Mutual of Omaha Mortgage is growing very fast and furious.  To stay competitive in a down market, they always have to be on their toes to maneuver around the financial markets and not everyone has the stomach for that.  Mortgage companies, in general, can have major swings in operations openings at anytime in their business cycles.  Mutual is a very strong company with great benefits and if you do not fit into the department you are working, if you ask, they will move to to another opening.  Working remotely is a benefit as are flexible hours if you want to work with a different time zone to fit in with your kids hours.  I would suggest you look at Mutual if you are in the mortgage field.

A typical day will consist of working through customer financials to determine credit worthiness, Generally I will make contact with the customer a request additional needs. The loans are thne submitted to the processing team. 
I learned their mortgage origination software and developed my interpersonal skills..
The management is encouraging and I enjoy the company of my co-workers. We all have lunch together often and our moral remains very high. 
The clients can sometimes be difficult and can create a mild level of stress.
I enjoy putting clients into new homes or giving them  more favorable mortgage terms. Also, educating them through the mortgage process gives me enjoyment.

Work from home flexibility, good benefits and 401k.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Toxic work environment, no mutual respect for one another.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Disfunctional. Managers talking about coworkers, managers that had little to no response to employees. Weeks would go by and my manager would not respond to messages. There was not employee training programs you learned from mistakes.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work through lunch and log off to get job done.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Flexilibity, you are treated with respect, Human Resources team is very professional, you get bonuses depending on where you work.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Work can be tedious and repetitive

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is calm, people usually respect each other, and their ideas, you can make mistakes but just don't make too many because you can get yourself fired (just like any other job)


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in around 730 or 8am, check emails, check your to do list, most work is sedentary, sitting around and do clerical work most of the day.

Unlike most places I've worked at, the environment here is vastly different. There's no real corporatey vibe to it for one, but mainly it's the management that makes it a good place to work. Most jobs have managers that you work for, and although loan officers ultimately report to management, the feel here is that managers work for YOU. These guys go above & beyond to make sure that you get paid. They spent a vast amount of resources for training & constantly work on making improvements, and at no point will you ever feel like you're on an island.

Mutual of Omaha Mortgage is a great company to work for. Our Chesterfield MO Branch is one of the most successful in the company. Prior to this position I had no experience with a mortgage company. Management taught me everything that I needed to know/do. 


My typical work day:

I would come in the office between 7-7:30AM and start going through my emails. My responsibilities mainly consist of requesting payoffs from other mortgage companies/banks, updating mortgagee clauses for insurance policies, and requesting verification of employments. 
I would usually eat my lunch at my desk and would leave the office around 4-4:30.

This company lies to you. They promise to be different and transparent, but will change your comp plans behind your back. 

The pros: great flexibility. Work from home. Seasoned LOs can set up their own schedule to maximize contacts.

Ok insurance, ok sales commissions. And ok pricing engines, we can compete here. 

The cons: poor leadership from middle management. Bosses are reactionary, and have no plan or vision to correct course in a volatile industry. When rates go up, they panic and close their doors. 

Upper Management will lie and steal from you: It's villainous, deceptive and creates immediate distrust.
