When I came into this environment, they started a new job position and titles specifically for people who were patients; when starting I should have seen the red flags from the start. Even though I was part of a “special” job title I was still being trained as a customer service rep (PSR as they call it) and while I understand I had to get use to the knowledge and the lay of the land the issue is that the train is not long enough to get you into the seat and half the time they are ready to kick out out into the field before you even have a chance to know everything which brings up a lot of questions and very little memory cause they always drop something new every-time and so much often that you barely catch your breath; my second red flag was that the higher ups really didn’t have a road map for said new position/job title. Originally, my job was suppose to just call out leads and ONLY call out leads; but being that more people quit the job more before hired it’s hard to have a large staff to handle calls which lead me to my third red flag, I’ve noticed while the environment was full of helpful and kind people willing to work with you behind the scenes it seems job security is a very finicky road mostly because people who worked there tend to want to leave fast or get let go faster. 

While I appreciate some of the supervisors the micromanaging offsets my job ethics, it’s always a quota, always a numbers game when it comes to making calls; always a email saying how many calls you make or didn’t make and always a, “Phone call” from supervisors if you are a second or more away from the phones; it gets to a point where the bad outweighs the good and if I wanted to be micromanaged to this degree I would have stayed at my old job!

Now remember when I talked about the “Special” new job title that was created SPECIFICALLY for patients who work with new patients/leads? Well the issue comes that as quickly they create the new position the quicker they take it away. Soon all the people I was suppose to call now suddenly they send it to a different location; suddenly instead of making just ONLY outbound calls to new patients suddenly they want me to be exactly like the job position I was not supposed to be in; and all the while they sugarcoat it as if it’s a, “Evolution” to a job that They didn’t ask me to evolve into! 
Just be carful when looking at this job and ask a lot of questions there are much better places where you feel comfortable and not being bogged down by someone on your back for not making too much calls!

During my 8 1/2 years at the company, there have been some positive aspects. I have gained valuable experience and significantly developed my skills through challenging projects that have contributed to my professional growth. Additionally, there are a few dedicated colleagues whose support and camaraderie have made some difficult times more bearable.

 However, the negative aspects far outweigh the positives. Hard work and dedication are rarely acknowledged, with criticism and unreasonable demands being the norm. There is a significant disconnect between management and staff, marked by favoritism, lack of transparency, and insufficient guidance. The culture promotes overworking, disregarding work-life balance, leading to high stress levels and frequent burnout. An unhealthy level of competition undermines teamwork and morale, while opportunities for professional development and career advancement are scarce. Additionally, inappropriate behavior is often ignored or inadequately addressed by HR, creating a hostile work environment.

Advice to Management

To improve the work environment, management should recognize and reward hard work and dedication, fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation. Establishing clear, transparent communication channels between management and staff is essential to build trust and ensure everyone is on the same page. Additionally, encouraging a healthy work-life balance by setting reasonable expectations and respecting employees' personal time can help reduce stress and burnout. Promoting collaboration over unhealthy competition will improve morale and productivity. Providing clear paths for professional development and career advancement can help retain talented employees and support their growth within the company. Finally, it is crucial to take complaints seriously and address inappropriate behavior promptly and effectively to create a safer and more respectful work environment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some co-workers were extremely helpful & friendly.  Wish I could say the same about the higher ups.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
OMG, Where do I begin?  Managers are never satisfied, checking up on you constantly, going into the system and looking at the # of things done by you. 
There's absolutely no trust, no encouragement, and forget about getting a compliment on a job well done.  Meetings twice per week to discuss what has been done, what will be done, and when.  Meetings generally lasted approx. an hour.  Managers were very sarcastic, lots of eye rolling, sighing, very unprofessional.  Only get 30 min lunch break if you're lucky.  Most people eat at their desk and work thru lunch.  Cameras everywhere--they watch everything you do.  You're better off doing waitress work or working in a car wash instead of this place.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Environment is okay if you're able to tune out other workers who have conversations with themselves constantly all day long.  They promote an all inclusive culture with people from many different backgrounds which I have seen.  However, the good culture certainly outweighs the miserable attitudes from some of the managers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I'm constantly asked when will this get done?, and have you done this yet? as they dump more and more and more work on you.  This company would rather save a few bucks by delegating the work to one person instead of hiring the appropriate amount of people to do their job.  Hard work is a good thing, but last I checked, people are human and not machines and we expect to be treated with respect.

The Doctors and PA's are really professional and polite and willing to be patient and willing to teach new staff. The environment is beautiful and kept clean. However we are treated like employee numbers with out any personal interaction with upper management unless it is insisted upon by us staff. NOT the IN OFFICE management. In office management is attentive and understanding but is unfortunately beholden to corporate policies and Upper administrators who are rarely available, dismissive of issues when they are available and usually unhelpful. Our fortes go unnoticed while our minimal flaws are critiqued highly making our value diminished down to bare minimum compliance employees. when requesting time off even for medical reasons or emergencies, it is anxiety inducing. There is no other staff coverage because they are so understaffed you feel like your letting the entire company down if you need off or to come in late or leave early. yet some days you have no work at all due to lack of doctors  and patients in the office. They want flexibility but do nothing to be flexible with the staff.

You’re expected to work 50+hours a week, no lunch break.  I’ve seen ppl fired based on hearsay and the training is a joke. Everyone is afraid of the owner of the practice and cameras are everywhere that he views.  The leadership doesn’t support you and lies by saying you were “coached” about an error but never were.  Their benefits are awful. Patient care is impacted due to extreme shortages of PAs and office managers that don’t care.  There is a high turnover in HR so the staffing needs are constantly changing.  Problem resolution is difficult because no one seems to know who is doing what so it’s a wild goose chase.  Their software is antiquated. They emphasize the importance of work culture but are very clicky and gossipy.  A lot of us are currently seeking other employment as most depts are so under staffed that we are under constant pressure.  We eat at our desks and work through lunch breaks.  We’re all miserable and work life balance is extremely affected.  

Management has no clue.  Turnover is extremely high at this organization due to management not having proper direction or training. They hire managers with no clue of the Bariatric field who come up with get rich quick schemes which causes patients to become a number. reputation management is horrible. Staff is over worked and underpaid for their skills. there are a lot of good workers not being compensated appropriately. HR does nothing but to say our door is open but no one does anything but to the say we aren't in the daily of it. Complaints are made and there are managers who are clueless.

I have been with this company 15+ years. It continues to grow and offer positive changes to my work day. NYBG is a friendly, beautiful working environment at every location. It is a fast paced and inspiring day helping and working with patients that are highly motivated to be healthy. Being a part of a cohesive clinical team of practitioners is a great experience. I have been very fortunate to meet wonderful people and continue to learn new things in my field while working at NYBG all of these years. It is a practice that is constantly evolving with the times and bringing new technologies to both employees and patients. It is easy to be productive in a work place that offers you every tool to do so. NYBG is a Bariatric and Weight Loss Practice that is innovative and truly provides excellent care to their patients and staff.

This is a horrible place no matter what facility you apply too or what position. Management is horrible if you are not in their click you are nothing to them! The management and office managers are lazy and push their work to you doesn’t matter if you feel overwhelmed! Training is a joke and it’s a huge turnaround that I’ve seen people burnt out, constantly venting how awful it is that 8 people in one facility in a matter of 4 months leave! They can’t keep staff and if you get a raise you have to chase it! They make it sound structured and they will offer you rainbows and sunshine until you get through the doors! Workers are petty and gossipy, no real growth and they expect more and more regardless, NO life balance and if you can travel to other offices they’ll use you to do it even if it’s 2 hours away they don’t care!  Don’t say you haven’t been warned!
