A typical day at work:
Caring for the participant took up most of the day — preparing meals, managing medications, attending appointments, and documenting care. However, many shifts were spent navigating challenges that weren’t part of my job description, including managing behavioral outbursts and covering gaps caused by poor administrative support.

What I learned:
I learned how strong I am under pressure and how broken the home care system can be when oversight is lacking. I also learned the importance of speaking up — even when it costs you your position — because participants’ well-being matters more than keeping quiet.

Management:
Supervision was inconsistent and often retaliatory if you raised legitimate concerns. Reports of participant safety issues or unethical behavior were ignored or downplayed. Communication was poor, and staff were often left unsupported or blamed when things went wrong.

Workplace culture:
The culture felt toxic and unprofessional. There was favoritism, gossip, and a "don’t rock the boat" mentality. Staff were afraid to speak up due to fear of retaliation. If you're someone who believes in doing the right thing, this can be a very isolating environment.

The hardest part of the job:
Being treated like you’re disposable after raising concerns. It’s emotionally exhausting to be ignored and retaliated against, especially when you're advocating for someone vulnerable.

The most enjoyable part of the job:
Helping the participant and making a real difference in their life — even if they didn’t always appreciate it. I genuinely enjoyed caregiving and felt proud of the positive changes I was able to help create during my time.

I worked there for 4 weeks. I lacked training. I was told that the hours were shorter than they are. They only pay you for 8 hrs even if you work 12. In my case I didn’t get my paycheck because management was lazy. When I complained about not having my paycheck and it putting me in a bad position they dropped me to part time. Like they already pay us less than any position in their company. They treat you with very little respect. They overwork you. And they do not communicate with employees when they say they will. Over all working for them they chose to treat me as less than, and have also refused to allow me to grab my personal belongings from the van I was driving. 

Communication with the Client & Caregiver & Care Plan Manager is not very proficient. 
There’s no way to contact someone should be need to speak to someone after hours.

I was assigned to a client that the company didn’t give me an overview or summary of what the client was like which is important,

The client was physically disabled and mentally challenged Because of the disability & or illness. There were no clear proactive solutions between the company’s Care Plan Manager & Client. 
The company is the first unprofessional place Ive ever worked for in the last 20 years. 
I really hope something changes soon! 

The pay is great. No holidays off and no paid vacation and no health insurance offered but after a year you can get life insurance, short term disability or accidental insurance and you get a free telehealth thing to see a doctor over the phone and get your medication sent to the pharmacy for more simple problems that don't require a doctor visit. A client can say they want another aide for any reason and you could be put out of work for weeks before they find you a new client. You don't get paid for any gas you use. I enjoy being able to help people and overall it's a good job. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Getting to know the clients. I love hearing their stories as well as how their day went. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When the family gets involved and takes over. You could be doing what was instructed and still be fired by the family. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I’m never at the company, when I went for orientation it seemed nice. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I go to the clients house, I help with a shower, fix something to eat, clean, and leave.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Like the work and the job it's always new experience every day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
If client goes to hospital finding work during there stay there

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a great experience the communication could be better sometimes but every one gets busy and sided tracked.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Good stay busy do as your task are thought the day always something different with the client

You get the opportunity to help people that cannot help themselves, or just give companionship to people that need it. It makes you feel really good to be able to help someone that cannot help themselves and be good to those people. No matter the situation I would help a person and working with the old home place has been a blessing for me. I have met people that I have instantly got a connection with I can care for a lot. I enjoy my job I'm happy with my job... Great bosses overall great place to work

work days were enjoyable yet hard work, & focus on what needed to be done for your client.
 
management is very unorganized, lacks communication. lets important problems go unsolved involving patients on wavier program. 
 couldn't provide work for me so I was laid off due to lack of work.. then was terminated a month after the last day of work. 

pay is good and you get hours if they have it available in your area.

The client expecting me to help her 24/7

It was a very friendly and helpful environment and culture. All the office personnel  was friendly.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Cleaning, Helping the client with shower, going grocery shopping, sometimes going out to eat.

Trying to keep up with who my coordinator is. Revolving door. They took bonuses away and ask 3 people same questions,  you get 6 different answers. No paid holiday, no paid time off. You work holidays and no benefits
