On a typical day at work, Behavioral Health Clinicians (BHC) see an average of 10-12 patients/day.  WSH contracts to provide services to patients with mild to moderate level acuity/needs.  In reality, BHCs often see patients who often have moderate to severe level of acuity.  This includes patients who have suicidal ideation (sometimes without or with a plan), psychosis, personality disorders, difficulty with substance abuse/addiction, trauma or a mix many of these aforementioned needs.  This can often feel overwhelming, can compromise quality of care of patients and can create unsustainable work demands.  

Upon licensure, BHCs have no access to regular consultation or supervision and are supported only on an as-needed basis.  Additionally, the acting behavior health clinical director is in a dual relationship with BHCs as an acting supervisor.  

All patients have the option to schedule appointments in person or via telehealth.   Unfortunately, this standard applies even when patients are clinically assessed to not be a fit for telehealth services due safety risks including for patients who have an active suicidal ideation (with means, plan and intent) but refuse to safety plan.

On numerous occasions, management and staff who are designated to help ensure employee safety are unresponsive to calls or email messages, and may gather information about employee safety concern but never follow up with updates to help reassure employees on how an issue will be or has been addressed.

There’s a clear investment by this organization in upholding contracts to fund it, at the unfortunate cost of ethical and lawful clinical practice.  

At one point, the organization truly valued its employees and patients. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case. The tagline “We See You” feels incredibly inaccurate based on the reality many employees and patients experience.

Executive leadership appears to have lost sight of the organization’s true mission and instead seems more focused on political visibility, especially with the emphasis on featuring politicians during all-staff meetings. Meanwhile, patients deserve far better care and support than what is currently being provided. The inability to retain providers speaks volumes about the deeper issues within the organization.

The restructuring into the “Confluence Model” has created significant confusion and lacks clear direction. There is no consistent understanding of reporting structures, and managers are often expected to report to multiple directors (LIAs), making communication and accountability extremely difficult.

Additionally, HR support has become increasingly ineffective. Questions are rarely answered in a timely manner, and management often struggles to receive the guidance or support needed to do their jobs effectively.

The organization frequently promotes the idea of a “Just Culture,” yet in practice, that culture does not truly exist. Instead, it often feels like favoritism and internal social dynamics determine who is protected and who is expendable. Employees who are not part of the “mean girls” circle often feel unsupported and vulnerable.

Sadly, the organization’s stated values, guiding principles, team principles, and mission statement no longer align with the actions of upper leadership and the executive team. Those values are repeatedly spoken about but rarely demonstrated through leadership behavior or organizational decisions.

I worked at the ARDEN Location. All Imma say is BEWARE. This work place never has any type of Communication what so ever even when they have ways to Skype,teams.  It’s always something going on or switching around and leave EVERY ONE CONFUSED. They hire TEMPS and when those temps arrive they never have a work space for them. Always constantly having to sit at someone’s desk almost everyday. ( Even if you ask they will lie to you just to get you out their way ) like why Even hire temp MA’s if you have no desk to work and sit at??The MA’s there ( not all ) there are always so nosey, touching your stuff(literally), Always in your business. But one thing they’ll do is talk it up to your face, ask you about your life outside work, talk about work with you ask you to do something for them. When they talk about you behind your back and idk why everyone there is GROWN AND MISERABLE I was young and an MA so I see why. Some MA’s there are literally BAD VIBES TO WORK AROUND WITH!!!!. The management ran there is a complete joke! ALWAYS SO DEMANDING, always LYING SO THEY CAN MOVE YOU OUT THEIR WAY!!!!! they throw everything in your face expecting you finish it in a day. No wonder MOST providers left and even the Top MA…  over all it’s always a hassle working at this job almost makes me anxious working there. And you wouldn’t want that at a workplace you’re going to be working in. You’re never appreciated for the hard work that you do only when a mistake happens that’s when you’ll never hear the end of it. I’m so glad I’m not working for well space anymore it was like huge weight off my shoulders. Im now working a even better job with a relaxed environment. Save YOURSELFS!!!!!! And BEWARE 

I came to WellSpace after very long tenure at another organization where I was in management for over 15 years.  (I left my old position as I needed a change)  I was at WellSpace for approximately three years.  I found the organization to have an excellent mission, but left believing the mission was merely words stated, rather than an outcome to be achieved.  The goal of the agency seemed to be "empire building" rather than concern for patients and providing quality services.  The CEO is incredibly charismatic who speaks passionately about providing quality care - The tagline is "We See You," however I never saw that in action towards the patients, nor the employees.   The leadership - directors on up, largely treat their employees with disdain and disrespect.  There was zero efforts to engage, rather the style was to just direct, and punish.  Inquiries and ideas were met with condescension.  An example of this was when  I was informed, when I asked a question about a project I had worked on, "We'll update you if we believe we need you." This stifles initiatve and creativity.  I witnessed other directors and executives shut down  questions  from other employees  in meetings in a similar manner.  I also witnessed public shaming in meetings to people who seemed to have made mistakes, albeit with good intentions. 
I have never felt so unmotivated in a position than in my position with WellSpace.  I am quite happy I left the agency and am with a new agency that has reignited my passion for my work.

As a former employee of WellSpace Health, I want to share my experience in a way that provides a balanced perspective. While my tenure ended with a layoff, which I believe was a blessing in disguise, it’s important to acknowledge both the positive and negative aspects of my time there.

Toxic Work Environment: The work atmosphere was notably toxic, marked by a lack of respect and support from management. The frequent condescension and dismissive attitude from higher-ups made daily tasks stressful and demoralizing. Notable this is a company wide issue across all departments. HR is very aware of what managers are toxic to there team and fail to address it. But it’s hard to address something they actively engage in themselves.
Poor Communication: Communication was often unclear and unconstructive, leading to confusion and frustration among team members.
Limited Growth Opportunities: Professional development opportunities were minimal, and the work culture did not encourage personal or career growth.
In summary, while my departure from WellSpace Health was challenging, it ultimately led me to a healthier work environment where I could thrive. I hope this review provides insight for potential future employees and encourages the company to address these issues for the benefit of its current and future teams.


Where do I start. I was in referrals for patient services where the department is unorganized the supervisor for referrals does not listen to you and will throw you under the bus. It has been said that i do not have anyones back and you will lose your job before i lose mines. They will not spend money to fix the infrastructure of the company but are still expanding. If you complain to a supervisor about a supervisor they will come after you to fire you. Employees doing the same job are getting paid different wages meaning if you started your job and start pay was 15 the new person hired after you start pay is 17. If your supervisor likes you then you will get a raise. It is not based on your performance. I am still here to help the patients but I am considering moving on as soon as i get the experience. Hate to leave but I see if I dont I might lose my job. The only reason im still here i changed departments before my old sup could fire me she was riding me like a bull because i complained to her supervisor about her.  New postions came available that was promised to me all of a sudden went away my que to change departments found my new postion on indeed for a job I already worked for should tell you alot right there about this company.

The management and team members are dedicated to the mission of providing quality medical, behavioral health and pediatric dental services to people with significant barriers to care. The people I’ve worked with have been nice and the company encourages a friendly workplace.  The problems stem from trying to help more and more patients without refining essential “infrastructure”.  The unrefined processes are gigantic issues impacting the ability to provide adequate care. Everyday I have to apologize to patients because no one can reach a person in the call center, or their specialty  referrals have been completed months after the provider submitted, or they cannot get an appointment to follow up an acute matter for months. 

. Now they acquired another FQHC. They couldn’t get primary care follow up visits to the patients Wellspace already services in a timely manner, then they acquired thousands more. Wellspace does great things for the community. I think they need to stop the rapid growth, and refine the key services like call center, referrals, and in many locations, update the physical plants.

I work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. I come in and participate in a morning huddle in which we review the morning patient load with the provider and medical assistant. I typically see my first patient at 8:15am in which I do new patient intake or biopsychosocial assessments for our pregnant patients. I also perform STI/HIV birth control education and STI checks. On my "down time" I process referrals for ultra sounds and specialist referrals for OB Care. My morning mirrors my afternoon. I have learned the ABC's of pregnancy and reproductive health. I feel like the people are work with are very reliable and helpful. Management can definitely use work as I currently have no program manager or anyone who is knowledgeable of my program. I have recently been expected to perform various tasks outside of my job description due no one understanding the tasks of my job. The hardest part of my job would have to be the fact that I have no leadership in my program but the best part is educating patients and giving them valuable information that they use in real life.

I have never felt more unwelcome and miserable at work in my life! Colleagues ignored me as if I didn’t exist. Other than to bring in patients, I was invisible. Any conversations I would try to have, coworkers would just turn around and walk away as if I wasn’t there or just wouldn’t respond to me if I asked them anything at all, even if it pertained to patients. They would just continue to talk and gossip and laugh as if I wasn’t even there. A provider even went as far as faking that he was falling asleep as I tried to have a conversation. The training is unorganized and programming is totally outdated. The pay is very low, no breaks, always understaffed, but still expected to finish all work and if not you get threatening emails from management saying there will be consequences. No incentives and hard to get any help. The lazy employee’s get away with doing nothing and those that work hard are taken advantage of and treated like s***. It’s a good place to start if you need a start off for career but there is a lot of work this company needs to improve on to retain good workers. I’m just happy I’m not there anymore. I never felt welcomed, like I belonged there, and I am so happy to be out of that environment.

The training was hit and miss.  One day you're told to show up for training and when you do, you're sent home after a couple of hours or told they didn't know when training would resume.  They put the cart before the horse in trying to set up their call center. They were bringing in people to answer the phones when they had no clear plan.  Once we were supposedly "trained" we were farmed out to individual clinics with no supervisors available to ask questions of and where questions were asked by patients that we were basically left to figure out on our own. Luckily I had experience with trouble shooting patient problems, so this wasn't an issue for me.  Some of the doctors were very lazy in refilling prescriptions, their referrals department was so far behind that patients were waiting months for approvals that should have only taken a few days, which made our jobs more difficult because we had to make excuses for them to very frustrated patients. The job was a temp job and only lasted 3 months.
