Social Media & Photography Internship

The Wildcat Sanctuary – Sandstone, MN

September 10, 2026 - March 12, 2027

The Wildcat Sanctuary is seeking one full-time Media Intern who has graduated from college and has hands-on experience in social media management and photography.

You will be responsible for creating content that engages millions of followers and drives donations that fund the rescue of wild cats.

If you want to build a career in social media, digital marketing, or nonprofit storytelling, this is an opportunity to produce real work with measurable impact.

This 6-month, full-time internship (September 10, 2026 - March 12, 2027) includes free housing and a $200/week stipend.

What You’ll Actually Do

You will operate as part of a high-performing marketing team, creating content for a respected organization with 5+ million followers across platforms.

Social Media & Content Strategy (70%)

Create, write, and publish daily content across Facebook (primary), Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube
Develop short-form video reels designed to maximize reach and engagement
Write captions that drive emotional connection, shares, and donor action
Actively monitor and respond to comments and messages to deepen supporter relationships
Track performance and adapt content based on what’s working
Stay current on platform trends, algorithm changes, and content formats
Assist with evening and weekend posting as needed

Photography & Videography (30%)

Capture compelling photo and video content of rescued wild cats on-site
Document key moments: rescues, veterinary care, enrichment, and behind-the-scenes operations
Edit content for social, web, and fundraising campaigns
Apply brand standards for consistent, high-quality storytelling
Organize and manage digital assets within our system

Who This Is For

This role is designed for someone who already has a foundation and wants to level up quickly.

You’re a strong fit if you:

Have graduated from college
Have hands-on experience managing or creating content for social media accounts
Have experience with digital photography and shooting in manual
Have experience creating short-form video reels
Can take initiative and execute independently after training period
Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, feedback-driven environment
Are comfortable in a shared living situation in a rural setting

Required Skills

Social Media

Ability to create, edit, and publish daily content (copy, images, video, live posts)
Strong writing skills with the ability to match an established brand voice
Ability to engage with supporters in a thoughtful, informed way
Basic understanding of content performance metrics (engagement, reach, shares, etc.)

Photography & Videography

Portfolio demonstrating strong composition, storytelling, and editing
Experience with photo and short-form video editing
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Lightroom), Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.

General Requirements

Strict adherence to all safety rules and protocols
Ability to work independently and take direction well
Physically capable of navigating acres of rough terrain in all seasons
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends

The Wildcat Sanctuary provides access to an iPhone, iPad, drone, digital camera, production camera, Mac laptop and desktop with Adobe Creative Suite.
