Restaurant and Beverage Manager

Full Time | Deerfield Inn | Deerfield, MA

Position Summary

The Restaurant and Beverage Manager oversees the daily operations of the Deerfield Inn’s restaurant and beverage program. This position ensures that guests receive exceptional service, that food and beverage standards are consistently met, and that financial and operational goals are achieved. The Manager works collaboratively with the members of the Inn’s management team to drive revenue, maintain brand quality, and support the overall success of the Inn. This is a full-time position, flexibility to work nights and weekends is essential.

Key Responsibilities

· Oversee daily restaurant and beverage operations, ensuring efficient service and high-quality food presentation.

· Hire, terminate, lead, train, and develop staff in food preparation, beverage service, customer service, and food safety protocols.

· Conduct shift management including coordinating schedules, overseeing guest interactions, and resolving service or operational issues promptly.

· Ensure compliance with all health, food safety, and sanitation regulations.

· Implement training and development programs to strengthen team skills and overall performance.

· Manage inventory and stock levels while reducing waste and maintaining cost control.

· Ability to create wine lists, beer selections, and specialty cocktails that enhance the guest experience and achieve targeted beverage profitability.

· Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development for the restaurant and special events.

· Participate in bi-weekly marketing calls to help plan promotions, seasonal programs, and special events that drive revenue and visibility for the Inn and Champney’s.

· Oversee aspects of kitchen coordination including food production planning, culinary support, and catering when needed.

· Ensure all daily operational and closing reports are completed accurately and submitted to accounting in a timely manner.

· Promote a collaborative work culture that supports communication, team morale, and guest focused service standards.

Qualifications

· Proven supervisory experience in hospitality with a strong focus on staff development and training.

· Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced fine dining restaurant environment.

· Excellent customer service skills with the ability to serve diverse guest needs professionally.

· Deep understanding of food and beverage safety standards, sanitation procedures, and proper handling techniques.

· Experience with kitchen management including culinary production, service execution, and catering operations.

· Strong competency in budgeting, inventory control, shift management, and operational planning.

· Leadership qualities that motivate teams, encourage communication, and support a positive workplace culture.

· Ability to analyze performance metrics and implement improvements that enhance both guest experience and financial results.

Physical Requirements

· Position requires standing for extended periods throughout the shift.

· Frequent walking to monitor dining, bar, service, and kitchen areas.

· Ability to use stairs regularly during operations.

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed for service support and inventory handling.

Compensation and Benefits

· Benefit eligible full-time exempt position.

· Starting hiring range of $50,000 to $55,000 per year.

· Full benefits package offered include paid time off, health benefits, and other employee benefits.
