Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Part-Time Property Management Bookkeeper with Buildium experience to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring accurate bookkeeping for our property management operations. Your expertise in accounting software and systems will help us maintain precise financial data, support budgeting efforts, and facilitate smooth financial reporting. This position offers a flexible schedule for motivated individuals eager to contribute to a thriving property management environment.

Duties

Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and rent collections
Reconcile bank statements and perform general ledger reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records
Prepare journal entries, ledger postings, and account analysis in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Utilize Buildium and other financial software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and government-specific accounting systems to record transactions
Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and assist with month-end closing processes
Support payroll processing activities, including deductions, tax filings, and compliance with relevant regulations
Generate detailed financial reports, including income statements, cash flow reports, and budget comparisons

Requirements

Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in accounting roles within property management or related fields
Extensive experience with Buildium property management software is required; familiarity with QuickBooks Online is essential
Strong knowledge of accounting standards such as GAAP and governmental accounting practices
Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), journal entries, account reconciliation, and double-entry bookkeeping methods
Ability to perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations accurately
Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable, and financial report writing
Knowledge of technical accounting concepts including general ledger accounting and account reconciliation procedures
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
Strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, budgeting, and tax compliance
10 key typing skills for efficient data entry; familiarity with accounting software like Sage or Xero is a plus
