Position Overview

The Staff Accountant is an essential member of CB Accounting’s client service team, supporting the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and other accounting deliverables. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, motivated professional who is eager to develop technical skills, gain client exposure, and grow within a supportive, collaborative firm environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting & Financial Reporting

Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Process accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and other accounting transactions.
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for clients.
Process payroll, including: o Regular payroll entries o Quarterly payroll reports
Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts.

2. Tax Preparation & Compliance

Prepare basic individual and business tax returns under the supervision of senior staff.
Gather and organize tax documents into Firm 360 in accordance with company policy.
Input tax return data for senior staff review.
Meet with clients to review tax returns and answer questions.
Organize and maintain tax records in compliance with regulations.
Assist with tax research and gathering necessary client documentation.
Complete client intake as needed by office location.

3. Client Service Support

Communicate with clients to obtain financial information and respond to basic inquiries.
Maintain organized and complete client files.
Assist in delivering high-quality service that meets deadlines and expectations.

4. Team Collaboration & Development

Work closely with senior accountants and managers on engagements.
Participate in training, professional development, and continuing education opportunities.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or in final year of completion), or NACPB certificates in bookkeeping and payroll.
0–2 years of accounting experience (internship or public accounting experience preferred).
Basic understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) a plus.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
