Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Specialist – Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our dedicated healthcare team. This position offers a $20k SIGN ON BONUS with relocation assistance up to $7k and a lucrative pension plan. In this vital role, you will provide specialized respiratory support to critically ill patients requiring ECMO therapy, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert management of complex respiratory and cardiovascular conditions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in critical care environments, including ICU and neonatal settings, with a strong foundation in respiratory therapy, airway management, and advanced life support procedures. Your expertise will directly contribute to delivering innovative, life-saving interventions within a dynamic hospital setting committed to excellence in patient care.

Duties

Operate and monitor ECMO equipment, ensuring precise control of blood flow, oxygenation, and circuit integrity during therapy sessions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, nurses, and perfusionists—to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for ECMO patients.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, blood gases, and physiological parameters to evaluate therapy effectiveness.
Manage ventilator settings and respiratory devices for patients across various units such as ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), and operating rooms.
Respond swiftly to cardiac arrest emergencies and other critical incidents by executing advanced airway management and resuscitation protocols.
Maintain meticulous documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, recording all aspects of patient care, equipment usage, and clinical observations.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of medical equipment to ensure safety standards are upheld at all times.
Administer medications related to respiratory therapy under physician directives while adhering to hospital policies.
Provide education and support to patients’ families regarding ECMO procedures, expected outcomes, and post-treatment care.
Stay current with advancements in pulmonology, critical care practices, and medical technology through ongoing professional development.

Requirements

Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from an accredited organization.
Proven experience in hospital medicine with a focus on critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine.
Demonstrated proficiency in ventilator management, airway management techniques, and respiratory device operation.
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology principles, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
Experience with ECMO systems or similar advanced life support technologies is highly desirable.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical terminology relevant to inpatient care.
Ability to respond effectively during cardiac arrest emergencies with appropriate medical interventions.
Excellent patient assessment skills combined with acute attention to vital signs and clinical indicators.
Knowledge of medication administration protocols within an inpatient setting.
Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
Prior experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous.
