Position Description

Brecke Mechanical Contractors is family-owned and has been committed to serving Eastern Iowa for almost 60 years. We are an established contracting company that serves a variety of customers across many industries, including commercial, industrial, mechanical, and build-to-suit.

B.G. Brecke, Inc. is seeking a reliable and motivated Accounts Payable Clerk to join our dedicated team. The Accounts Payable Clerk will be instrumental in managing invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense reports. Must ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial transactions. Ideal candidates will possess strong organizational skills and knowledge of accounting software, be detail-oriented, and possess strong communication and multitasking skills.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

1. Ensure timely and accurate payment postings to maximize cash discounts and take full advantage of payment terms.

2. Provide support as a backup for accounts receivable (AR) functions.

3. Assist in processing check runs efficiently and accurately.

4. Establish and maintain comprehensive vendor and customer files; process requests, address invoicing inquiries, manage subcontractor agreements, and ensure the timely collection of W-9 forms and tax-exempt certifications.

5. Process prepaid invoices, including state and federal withholding taxes, child support, and other mandatory deductions.

6. Verify, process, reconcile, track, code, and enter payments, including both PO and non-PO invoices with accuracy.

7.Reconcile vendor statements, credit card accounts, and expense reports regularly.

8. Investigate, research, and resolve discrepancies in accounts, statements, and invoices promptly and professionally.

This is NOT a remote position and requires you to be on-site Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm with the opportunity for some flexibility.

Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

2. Three years of related accounting and/or finance experience preferred.

3. Prior experience with Acumatica ERP is highly desirable.

1. Strong organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to self-motivate.

2. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to interruptions in a fast-paced environment, and consistently meet deadlines.

3. Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.

4. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices.
