Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Powder Coating Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying high-quality powder coating finishes to a variety of metal products, ensuring they meet strict quality standards and safety protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision, safety, and craftsmanship are paramount. Your expertise will contribute to delivering durable, visually appealing coated products that meet customer specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for coating by performing surface cleaning, sanding, and surface preparation using hand tools, power tools, and construction painting techniques.
Operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns and airless paint sprayers, to apply even coats of powder finish on products.
Interpret production documents such as work orders, process sheets, and quality standards to ensure accurate application and finish consistency.
Maintain proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, safety glasses, gloves, and protective clothing, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
Handle materials safely using forklifts and cranes for loading and unloading parts within the warehouse or fabrication area.
Conduct visual color comparisons and inspect finished products for coating quality, color accuracy, and surface defects.
Perform routine maintenance on spray guns, coating equipment, and hand tools to ensure optimal operation and safety compliance.

Qualifications

Proven experience with industrial painting or powder coating processes in a manufacturing or construction environment.
Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate power tools, hand tools, machining equipment, and fabrication machinery.
Familiarity with coating application techniques such as conventional spraying, airless paint spraying, and finishing processes.
Ability to interpret production documents accurately and follow detailed instructions precisely.
Knowledge of safety procedures including PPE use, respiratory protection, hazard communication, and adherence to safety protocols.
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to coating thicknesses and material handling.
Experience with warehouse operations, materials handling equipment like forklifts or cranes is preferred.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform visual inspections and color matching accurately.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects safely, and perform repetitive tasks efficiently.
