About Us and the Role

Mid-Ohio Generators is a small, locally owned company in Sunbury that sells, installs, and services Generac home backup generators. We're hiring a full-time Accounting Assistant to keep our books accurate and current in QuickBooks Online and to help keep our office running smoothly.

This is a hands-on role in a small office. You'll own the day-to-day accounting work - daily invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, credit card entry, and reconciliations - and you'll also pitch in wherever the office needs you, including answering the phone and taking messages. Please read before applying: This role requires hands-on QuickBooks Online experience within the last 12 months. QuickBooks Desktop experience alone, or QuickBooks experience from several years ago, will not qualify for this position.

What You'll Do

Accounting

Prepare and send daily customer invoices in QuickBooks Online
Manage accounts receivable, including calling customers about past-due balances
Manage accounts payable
Enter and code credit card receipts, and verify that each one posts correctly
Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
Process customer payments, including credit card payments
Work between QuickBooks Online and our field service software, making sure service invoices and payments transfer over correctly
Keep our financial records accurate and up to date everyday
Support year-end tax preparation with our outside accountant

HR and Office Support

Assist with payroll
Help gather documentation for our annual 401(k) audit and Ohio BWC audit
Review our annual health insurance renewal quotes and lay the plan options out side by side so ownership can make a clear decision
Answer incoming calls, take accurate messages, and get them to the right person
General office support: filing, ordering supplies, and the everyday things that keep a small office running

As you get familiar with our systems and processes, additional responsibilities may be added over time.

What We're Looking For

Required

QuickBooks Online experience within the last 12 months
Solid grasp of basic accounting: accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and coding transactions correctly
Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Workspace
Professional, confident phone manner, including comfort making past-due collection calls
Accurate and detail-focused; you catch your own mistakes before anyone else does
Trustworthy and discreet with financial and employee information
Willing to wear multiple hats. We're a small company and everyone has to help with tasks outside their regular role from time-to-time. This could be covering the phones or restocking the breakroom. There is no "that's not my job" on this team.

Nice to Have

Experience with field service software (Commusoft, mHelpDesk, ServiceTitan, or similar)
Experience supporting a 401(k) audit or workers' compensation audit
Payroll experience

Schedule

Full-time, on-site at our Sunbury office
Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch
Reliable coverage through 5:00 PM is important to us, since the late afternoon is often our busiest stretch for incoming calls

Pay and Benefits

$24.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on experience
