Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Columbus, OH

PCU Registered Nurse | Days | $60/Hour

We're hiring an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Columbus, Ohio. Join a nationally recognized academic medical center providing high-quality care to adult medical and surgical patients in a mixed-acuity stepdown environment.

Position Details

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Days – 3x12s (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Guaranteed 36 Hours/Week
Pay Rate: $60/Hour
Every Other Weekend Required
First-Time Travelers Welcome

Requirements

Active Ohio RN License (or Compact License if applicable)
BLS and ACLS Certifications
NIHSS Certification
Minimum 2 Years of Recent Progressive Care (PCU/Stepdown) Experience
Epic EMR Experience Required
Experience with PCU or Stepdown patient populations

Preferred Skills

Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
Blood product administration
Central line and PICC line management
Heparin protocols
IV therapy and phlebotomy
Respiratory support including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
Wound care and wound vacs
Pre- and post-surgical patient care
Rapid Response and Code Team experience

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult PCU and mixed-acuity patients
Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to changes in patient condition
Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies
Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
Perform ongoing patient assessments and accurate documentation in Epic
Float within the Ohio State University Health System as needed

Ideal Candidate

Strong PCU/Stepdown RN with excellent critical thinking skills
Comfortable caring for complex medical and surgical patients
Flexible with floating to equivalent units
Team-oriented with outstanding communication and patient care skills
