Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various financial processes. Your expertise will support the organization’s financial health by executing precise bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse set of accounting software and systems, contributing to the overall efficiency of our financial operations. Responsibilities

Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accurate financial records.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining vendor and customer records.
Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly to detect discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, UltiPro, Kronos, ADP, Paychex, and others to process transactions efficiently.
Support payroll management activities by entering data into payroll systems like ADP or Ceridian and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and payroll policies.
Assist with tax preparation and compliance activities by maintaining accurate records of taxable transactions and supporting documentation.
Conduct internal audits of financial data to ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and governmental accounting standards.

Skills

Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, GAAP, SOX compliance, and governmental accounting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, UltiPro, Kronos, ADP, Paychex or similar platforms.
Experience with payroll management systems like ADP or Ceridian along with payroll processing knowledge.
Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping methods.
Ability to perform detailed account analysis, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entries confidently.
Knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, account analysis, budgeting, credit analysis, and financial acumen.
Familiarity with public accounting practices as well as non-profit accounting is a plus.
