Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing a variety of accounting functions to ensure accurate financial record-keeping and compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will help support our organization’s financial health, providing clarity and transparency through precise bookkeeping practices. Duties

Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure all financial data aligns accurately with bank statements and internal records.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, to record financial transactions accurately in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to verify the integrity of financial data.
Assist with payroll processing, tax filings, and compliance related to governmental accounting standards.
Support budgeting activities by analyzing expenses and preparing financial reports that facilitate strategic decision-making.
Write detailed financial reports and summaries to communicate the organization’s financial status clearly to stakeholders.
Utilize technical accounting knowledge for account analysis, account reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation tasks.
Contribute to internal audits by maintaining meticulous records of all bookkeeping activities and supporting documentation.

Qualifications

Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms; familiarity with Quicken is a plus.
Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, non-profit accounting practices (if applicable), and governmental accounting standards.
Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and double entry bookkeeping methods.
Demonstrated ability in bank reconciliation, account analysis, journal entries, and general ledger management.
Experience with accounts payable/receivable processes, payroll management, tax preparation, and budget analysis.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills; proficiency in 10-key typing is preferred.
Ability to interpret financial concepts clearly and communicate findings effectively through written reports.
Prior experience in public accounting or working within a nonprofit environment is advantageous but not required.
