We are a high-end custom home contractor based on the Gold Coast, specializing in luxury residential construction. With nearly two decades of experience and a team of over 50 employees, our reputation is built on quality craftsmanship, precision, and professionalism.

Position Summary

A Residential Construction Estimator is responsible for calculating the total costs of home building or renovation projects before they begin. They act as a bridge between the design (blueprints) and the physical build, ensuring the project is financially viable and that the company can submit competitive, profitable bids. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with subcontractors and supporting a busy construction team.

Key Responsibilities

Quantity Takeoff: Analyzing architectural blueprints and engineering drawings to list every material needed, from foundation rebar to finish hardware.
Cost Analysis: Researching current market prices for materials and equipment, and forecasting labor costs based on project complexity.
Bid Management: Soliciting and reviewing quotes from subcontractors (plumbers, electricians, etc.) to ensure their scopes match project requirements.
Risk Assessment: Identifying potential site issues (e.g., poor soil conditions or weather delays) and factoring in contingencies to protect profit margins.
Collaboration: Working closely with architects, project managers, and clients to provide value engineering—suggesting alternative materials or methods to save money without sacrificing quality.
Reporting: Preparing formal proposals and detailed budget breakdowns for client approval.

Qualifications & Skills

Blueprint Reading: Expert-level ability to interpret 2D and 3D construction documents.
Software Proficiency: Experience with industry-standard estimating software such as Buildertrend, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or ProEst.
Mathematical Accuracy: Strong analytical skills to handle complex calculations where a small error can lead to thousands of dollars in losses.
