Job Overview

SBW Constructors LLC is seeking an experienced Pipe Layer to join our growing underground utility construction team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience installing underground water, sewer, and storm drainage systems in commercial, industrial, and government construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of utility installation, trench safety, grade verification, and working efficiently alongside heavy equipment operators. Key Responsibilities

Install underground water, sewer, and storm drainage pipe according to project specifications and blueprints.
Lay, align, and connect pipe while ensuring proper grade and elevation.
Prepare trenches and bedding materials for pipe installation.
Work safely in and around trenches, ensuring compliance with trench safety regulations and proper use of trench boxes.
Assist with excavation activities and work closely with heavy equipment operators during utility installation.
Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and utility plans.
Install fittings, valves, hydrants, manholes, and related underground utility components.
Verify pipe alignment, slope, and depth using lasers and grading equipment.
Backfill and compact trenches according to project requirements.
Perform general labor duties as needed to support the crew.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and project managers.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pipe Layer in underground utility construction (required).
Proven experience installing water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
Strong understanding of trenching, excavation, and underground utility installation.
Experience working with trench boxes and trench safety requirements.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and construction drawings.
Knowledge of proper pipe alignment, grading, and installation techniques.
Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and underground utilities.
Strong work ethic with the ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred but not required: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification, Excavation Competent Person Training, Confined Space Training, or other utility construction certifications.
