Ophthalmology Front Desk Receptionist

Houser Newman Associates is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Ophthalmology Front Desk Receptionist to join our team at our private ophthalmology practice.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in providing exceptional patient service, is eager to learn, and can confidently manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

About the Position

As an important member of our front desk team, you will be one of the first points of contact for our patients. You will help create a welcoming experience while supporting our physicians, clinical staff, and overall office operations.

This position requires travel between all three of our locations:

South Tamaqua
Nesquehoning
Palmerton

Flexibility to work at each location is an essential part of this position.

Responsibilities & Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Creating a positive, enthusiastic, professional, and fun work environment for patients and coworkers.
Providing front desk coverage at all three office locations as part of a collaborative team.
Learning and becoming proficient in our NextGen electronic medical record system, including patient check-in, check-out, pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and other front desk functions.
Learning and accurately processing medical and vision insurance plans and requirements.
Verifying and maintaining accurate patient information and documentation.
Multitasking effectively while prioritizing responsibilities to keep each provider's schedule running efficiently.
Adapting quickly to changes in provider and staff schedules and adjusting priorities as needed.
Developing strong relationships and maintaining excellent communication with patients, coworkers, management, and physicians.
Monitoring office supplies and communicating supply needs for each location.
Handling front desk questions, concerns, and requests confidently, professionally, and proactively.
Maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Assisting other team members when needed to ensure smooth daily operations.

The ideal candidate will be:

Experienced: Minimum of 2 years of medical office front desk experience; ophthalmology experience is strongly preferred.
Organized: Able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and stay detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
Dependable: Reliable, punctual, and willing to travel between all three office locations.
Patient-focused: Committed to providing exceptional, compassionate service to every patient.
Team-oriented: Works well with physicians, clinical staff, and fellow front desk team members.
Adaptable: Comfortable learning new systems, procedures, and responsibilities.
Professional: Communicates respectfully and effectively with patients, coworkers, physicians, and management.

Job Details

Position: Ophthalmology Front Desk Receptionist
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: 4–5 days per week, Monday–Friday
Locations: South Tamaqua, Nesquehoning & Palmerton
Starting Pay: $14.00 per hour

Ophthalmology experience is strongly preferred.
