Engineering Manager - Structural / Mechanical Design

Employment Type: Full-Time

Workplace Type: On-Site (Houston, TX)

About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join and lead the engineering team at our well-established overhead crane manufacturing company. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to guide the structural engineering department, collaborate across functions, and influence the company's growth and direction. You’ll report directly to upper management and play a key role in driving innovation, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor 1-2 employees in an on-site capacity.
Provide cross-functional engineering support to manufacturing, sales, service, and installation teams.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing techniques, quality control, and production efficiency.
Prepare approval and shop drawings using AutoCAD.
Perform component analysis and structural calculations in accordance with CMAA standards using in-house tools and Excel-based resources.
Supervise and review team design outputs to ensure technical accuracy and readiness for production.
Collaborate with the sales team to deliver preliminary engineering input for customer quotations.
Requisition of structural and mechanical components required for ongoing and upcoming projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Structural Engineering preferred)
Minimum of 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong knowledge of structural analysis and steel design
Familiarity with industry standards such as CMAA, AISC, AWS, and OSHA regulations
Proficiency in engineering/design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Required:

Experience in either:

-Overhead crane manufacturing, or

-Structural steel design/fabrication
