Experienced Ophthalmic Technician

Location: Union, NJ

Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday (No Weekend or Evening hours)

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour, depending on experience

About Our Practice

We are a busy, patient-focused ophthalmology practice dedicated to providing high-quality eye care in a professional, welcoming environment. We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and motivated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team.

Position Overview

The Ophthalmic Technician will work closely with our ophthalmologists and clinical team to provide efficient and professional patient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced medical office, and committed to creating a positive experience for every patient. We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our multi-specialty practice. The position is full-time at one location without travel. No weekends and no evenings.

Responsibilities include:

Welcome and prepare patients for their ophthalmic examinations
Obtain and document accurate medical and ocular histories
Perform preliminary eye testing and diagnostic procedures
Measure visual acuity, pupils, IOP, and other standard ophthalmic measurements
Perform diagnostic testing such as OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, and other diagnostic studies as needed
Assist the physician during patient examinations and procedures
Prepare exam rooms and maintain clean, organized clinical areas
Enter and update patient information accurately in the electronic medical record
Review medications and medical history with patients
Provide clear and professional patient instructions
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
Assist with maintaining efficient patient flow throughout the office
Perform other clinical and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications:

Previous ophthalmic/optometry experience is required
Experience with diagnostic equipment preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment
Professional, dependable, and compassionate approach to patient care
Comfortable working as part of a team
Basic computer and electronic medical record skills
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
