Seasonal Tax Associate

About the Role

Start building valuable tax knowledge and client service experience as a seasonal Tax Associate with H&R Block. No previous professional tax preparation experience is required.

In this in person role, you will work directly with clients, learn about their unique tax situations, prepare accurate tax returns, and help make the tax filing process easier to understand. You will receive support from experienced teammates while developing practical skills, building client relationships, and growing your confidence as a tax professional.

This position offers competitive hourly pay, along with opportunities to increase your earnings as your tax knowledge, skills, and experience grow.

What You Will Do

Meet with clients to gather information and understand their individual tax situations
Prepare complete and accurate tax returns using H&R Block tools, resources, and established procedures
Explain tax information clearly and answer client questions with confidence and care
Identify potential tax savings opportunities and recommend appropriate products and services based on each client’s needs
Use problem solving skills to review information, identify solutions, and address unique tax situations with guidance from experienced teammates
Build lasting client relationships by providing friendly, professional, and dependable service
Collaborate with teammates and contribute to office goals through a client focused approach

Required Qualifications

Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
Experience working with customers or clients in a service focused environment
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain information clearly and ask thoughtful questions
Strong organization and problem solving skills
Comfort learning and using digital systems, including artificial intelligence tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
Experience in a client facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, banking, or professional services
Experience identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions
Ability to work approximately 15 to 35 hours per week, with availability for up to 40 hours during peak periods
Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season

Pay and Benefits Information

The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is provided in accordance with applicable local requirements so applicants understand the compensation for which they may be eligible.

Individual pay decisions are based on job related factors, including experience, education, skills, performance, and the geographic location where the work will be performed.

Successful candidates may also be eligible to participate in one or more incentive compensation plans, which may provide additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.

Qualifying associates may enroll themselves and their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage. Eligible associates may also participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan, Employee Assistance Program, virtual fitness center programs, associate discount program, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Associate Tax Preparation Benefit.

Pay Range

$17.13 - $19.00/Hr.
