Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in our production pipeline by independently setting up, operating, and monitoring computer numerical control (CNC) lathes to produce high-precision metal or plastic components. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, can accurately interpret blueprints, and takes pride in maintaining strict quality tolerances.

Job Details & Compensation

Job Type: Full-time, on site
Shift: Day shift
Pay Range: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Location: Houston, TX

Key Responsibilities

Machine Setup: Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, tool holders, and inserts based on part specifications.
Operation: Run production components on CNC lathe machinery while optimizing machine cycles.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, job sheets, and GD&T symbols.
Programming Edits: Perform manual G-code adjustments, tooling offsets, and minor program edits at the controller to maintain part quality.
Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision metrology instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine preventative machine maintenance and adhere strictly to all shop safety protocols.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience setting up and operating Mazak CNC Lathes.
Control Systems: Familiarity with Mazatrol controls.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of shop math, GD&T, and material properties.
Physical Ability: Capability to stand for extended periods, maintain manual dexterity, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; trade school or completion of a machinist apprenticeship is highly preferred.
