Full Job Description

Production Supervisor – Plastic Injection Molding

We are hiring an experienced Production Supervisor with a plastics manufacturing background to oversee daily operations on our injection molding production floor. This role is responsible for safety, quality, output, and on-time delivery across injection mold machines. The ideal candidate has hands-on supervisory experience in an injection molding environment and understands injection mold operations, cycle times, scrap reduction, and mold changeovers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise daily injection molding production operations, mold setups/changeovers, and auxiliary equipment (robots, conveyors, chillers, dryers, granulators) to meet safety, quality, and output targets.
Monitor cycle times and machine downtime; work with process/manufacturing engineering to troubleshoot molding issues.
Lead, train, and hold accountable a team of machine operators, material handlers; assign work, monitor performance, and provide coaching.
Enforce safety rules and procedures specific to a molding floor and promote a strong safety culture.
Ensure parts meet quality specifications; partner with Quality on inspections, first-article approvals, and corrective actions.
Coordinate mold changes and press scheduling with production planning to minimize downtime and maximize press utilization.
Track and report daily production metrics: output, scrap, downtime, attendance, and labor hours.
Address employee performance, attendance, and conduct issues, including documentation and corrective action.
Coordinate with maintenance, quality, engineering, and logistics/materials to resolve production issues.
Support onboarding and training of new operators and technicians on machine operation and safety standards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives targeting scrap reduction, cycle time improvement, and cost savings.
Communicate production priorities and updates to employees and management.

Qualifications

10 years of supervisory experience specifically in plastic injection molding manufacturing.
Working knowledge of injection molding machines and tonnage, hot runner systems, mold changeovers, and auxiliary equipment.
Strong understanding of molding defects, scrap reduction, and process troubleshooting.
Associate's or bachelor's degree in a manufacturing field preferred.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold employees accountable in a fast-paced press floor environment.
Experience with production reporting, timekeeping, or ERP systems.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

Injection molding plant environment with exposure to noise, heat, and moving equipment.
Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
May require overtime, weekends, or shift work based on production needs.
