As a family-owned business operating three branches across the state—SE Hamburg, NW Traverse City, and Indian River—our sustained success is built on a foundation of exceptional service, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to our people. Our maintenance division is experiencing rapid, strategic growth across all three locations, adding new commercial accounts, expanding our workforce, and upgrading our fleet annually. To lead this next chapter, we are creating a new executive-level role responsible for the full scope of maintenance production across the entire company. This is an opportunity to shape the operational future of a growing, family-owned enterprise from the top down.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced leader to oversee all landscape maintenance and snow/ice operations to provide unified leadership across Todd's Services' three Michigan branches. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this is a company-wide executive role with full authority and accountability for operational performance, team development, financial results, and service quality at every location. You will lead a multi-tiered organizational structure consisting of Branch Superintendents and, as the company continues to grow, Branch Production Managers at each of the three locations. Your role is to set the company-wide standard, align all branches to a consistent operational model, and develop the next generation of leadership within the organization. This position requires a decisive, field-present leader who thinks strategically, manages financially, and builds teams that perform at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities Company -

Company-Wide Operational Leadership

Establish, standardize, and enforce operational procedures, production benchmarks, and quality standards across all three branches.
Oversee the seasonal operational rhythm at every location, ensuring seamless transitions through spring cleanups, peak mowing season, enhancement projects, fall cleanups, and winter snow operations.
Monitor branch-level field operations to ensure disciplined scheduling, efficient routing, and proactive contingency planning for weather disruptions.
Own and enforce rigorous standards for workplace safety, equipment care, and jobsite professionalism across the entire maintenance division.

Multi-Branch Team Development & Organizational Growth

Lead, mentor, and develop Branch Superintendents at each location, with a clear pathway to elevate high-performing superintendents into Branch Production Manager roles as the company scales.
Build a cohesive, high-performance leadership culture across all three branches, ensuring consistent standards and shared accountability.
Forecast divisional labor demands by branch and season, partner with HR on talent acquisition, and oversee onboarding to ensure new leaders are set up for success.
Identify and develop internal talent at every level—growing foremen into superintendents and superintendents into managers.

Financial & Budget Accountability

Own the financial performance of the maintenance division across all branches, monitoring labor hours, overtime, and operational costs against established budgets.
Proactively identify and correct budgetary drifts at any location before they impact month-end results.
Hold branch-level leadership accountable for accurate timekeeping, minimizing wasted hours, and optimizing fleet utilization and yard inventory.
Provide executive leadership with clear, accurate weekly reporting on divisional performance, financial standing, and key operational metrics across all three branches.

Client Relations & Quality Assurance

Maintain a consistent, high standard of commercial service quality across all branches through regular field inspections and proactive issue resolution.
Collaborate with Account Managers and Maintenance Sales teams at each location on walk-throughs, problem-solving, and account retention strategies.
Identify and capitalize on field-level enhancement opportunities across all branches to drive additional divisional revenue.

Winter Operations & Snow Management

Winter operations are a critical, company-wide responsibility of this role. You will provide strategic oversight of the snow and ice management program across all three branches, from the first storm to the spring thaw, ensuring every commercial account is served to the highest standard.

Pre-Season Planning: Lead comprehensive pre-season planning and training across all branches, ensuring efficient snow and ice routes, clear site priorities, and well-defined service commitments at every location.
Event Execution: Serve as the senior decision-maker during significant weather events—coordinating forecasts, pre-treatment calls, equipment staging, and crew and subcontractor deployment across branches.
Live Management: Oversee live multi-branch operations during storm events, supporting branch superintendents in tracking crew progress, shifting routes dynamically, and resolving staffing or equipment gaps in real-time. Post-Event Administration: Ensure all branches maintain strict subcontractor standards, conduct post-storm quality reviews, maintain accurate billing records, and resolve client issues swiftly to protect winter accounts.

First-Year Success Criteria

By the end of your first year, success will be measured by:

Operational Alignment: All three branches are operating under a consistent, standardized production model with measurable improvements in route efficiency and schedule adherence.
Financial Performance: Divisional labor costs and operational expenses are at or below budget across all locations.
Project Completion: All sold enhancement work is executed within the season at every branch, eliminating capacity-related carryover.
Client Retention: High commercial account retention driven by consistent service quality and proactive problem resolution across all branches.
Team Development: A clear leadership pipeline is in place, with branch superintendents advancing and a roadmap established for the Branch Production Manager structure.
Winter Execution: Snow operations run seamlessly across all three branches with tightly controlled costs and high client satisfaction.
Executive Visibility: Consistent, accurate, and timely divisional reporting provides executive leadership with a clear view of company-wide maintenance performance.

Qualifications & Experience Required

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial landscape maintenance or the green industry.
Proven experience leading multi-location or multi-branch operations, with direct oversight of subordinate managers and superintendents.
Demonstrated track record of managing large-scale divisional budgets, labor hours, and complex route-based scheduling across multiple sites.
Deep technical knowledge of commercial mowing, horticultural maintenance, and landscape enhancement projects.
Extensive experience managing comprehensive winter operations, including route planning, live storm management, and subcontractor coordination.
Proficiency with scheduling software, CRM platforms, spreadsheets, and executive-level performance reporting.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to handle trucks and trailers (Chauffeur's endorsement required, or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Willingness and ability to travel regularly between all three branch locations (SE Hamburg, NW Traverse City, Indian River).

Preferred Differentiators

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
Experience building and scaling a multi-branch operational structure, including developing manager-level roles.
Experience managing H-2B seasonal visa programs across multiple locations.
Industry credentials such as NALP Landscape Industry Certified, Commercial Pesticide Applicator License, or SIMA certification.

Working Conditions & Environment

This is a field-present executive leadership role requiring regular travel between all three branch locations across Michigan. Candidates must be prepared for early seasonal starts, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and remaining on-call during winter storm events. Extended hours are expected during peak spring/fall transitions and active snow events.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
