Full Job Description

Back Office Medical Assistant *Private Cardiology Practice* | Part-Time

We are a private cardiology practice with one provider seeking a reliable, experienced, and compassionate Back Office Medical Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis.

The ideal candidate will have prior cardiology experience and be comfortable performing and assisting with common cardiac diagnostic testing, including EKGs, stress tests, and Holter monitor placement/removal and monitoring. Experience with prior authorizations and other administrative duties is highly preferred.

Because we are a small, one-provider practice, we are looking for someone who is a team player, organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to assist wherever needed to keep the office running smoothly.

Schedule

Part-time: 3 days per week
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Wednesday may be needed occasionally, based on office needs

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical / Back Office

Room and prepare patients for provider visits
Obtain and document vital signs, medication lists, and medical histories
Perform 12-lead EKGs
Assist with and perform cardiac stress testing according to office protocols
Apply, educate patients on, and remove Holter monitors
Download and prepare Holter/monitor reports for provider review
Assist with other cardiology-related testing and procedures as needed
Prepare exam room and maintain a clean, organized clinical area
Assist the provider during patient visits and procedures
Communicate with patients regarding testing instructions, follow-up, and appointments
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Administrative Support

Assist with prior authorizations when needed
Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and medical records
Assist with prescription-related requests and pharmacy communication as appropriate
Review and organize incoming medical records, reports, and other clinical correspondence
Perform other administrative duties necessary to support the practice

Front Office Support

Although this is primarily a back-office position, the successful candidate should be comfortable assisting at the front desk when needed, including:

Answering phones and assisting patients
Scheduling and confirming appointments
Checking patients in and out
Collecting copays or other patient payments as needed
Assisting with general office tasks as requested

Qualifications

Medical Assistant certification preferred
Previous medical assisting experience required
Cardiology experience strongly preferred
Experience with EKGs, stress tests, and Holter monitors strongly preferred
Experience with prior authorizations is a plus
Familiarity with EMR systems
Strong organizational and communication skills
Professional, friendly, and compassionate bedside manner
Ability to work independently while being a dependable member of a small team
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
Willingness to assist with both clinical and administrative responsibilities

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a small, close-knit private practice environment, takes pride in providing excellent patient care, and is willing to be flexible and help wherever needed. Cardiology experience is highly preferred, particularly hands-on experience with EKGs, stress testing, and Holter monitoring.
