Sr. Manager, Engineering & Maintenance

Direct Hire | Contract-to-Hire Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering & Maintenance to join a leading food manufacturing organization in Lakeland, FL. This opportunity is available as either a direct hire or contract-to-hire position, depending on the selected candidate and business needs.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing engineering, maintenance, equipment reliability, and capital project initiatives across a high-volume manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in manufacturing operations, maintenance strategy, capital project execution, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all engineering and maintenance operations for the manufacturing facility.
Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance.
Drive equipment reliability initiatives and implement continuous improvement strategies across the facility.
Lead engineering capital projects from planning through execution while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Manage capital and operating budgets for the Engineering and Maintenance departments.
Build, mentor, and develop engineering and maintenance teams while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Partner with Operations, Production, and cross-functional teams to improve equipment performance, production capacity, and overall plant efficiency.
Coordinate planned shutdowns, major maintenance activities, equipment installations, and facility improvements.
Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
Manage vendor relationships, contractors, and outside service providers supporting maintenance and capital projects.
Monitor maintenance and engineering performance metrics to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Support workforce planning, employee development, succession planning, and overall department performance.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
5+ years of experience leading engineering or maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment.
5+ years of experience managing engineering capital projects.
Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Experience managing engineering and maintenance budgets, including CAPEX.
Demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
8+ years of engineering or maintenance experience within manufacturing.
Experience in food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing.
Experience with reliability engineering, CMMS systems, and maintenance best practices.
PMP, CMRP, SMRP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar professional certifications.
Experience leading CAPEX planning and execution.
Proven success implementing continuous improvement initiatives that improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Strong project management experience with multiple concurrent engineering initiatives.
