FOOD SCIENTIST/TECHNOLOGIST NEEDED!

Sabater USA is the leading manufacturer in the world's most natural ingredients of spices and seasonings, botanical herbs and teas. Our company is part of a multinational group with presence in Spain, China, Senegal and Peru. We are continuing to grow and in need for a Food Scientist/Technologist (1 opening) who is eager to level-up their career. The Food Scientist is a team player with an outgoing, long-term career-minded approach to daily responsibilities. This is a great a career opportunity, for someone who already has a food scientist or technologist background in a B2B food manufacturer. Must have food manufacturing experience. This is an ONSITE position.

The Food Scientist supports sales by developing and maintaining product innovations. The Food Scientist is responsible for innovation in the development of new dry seasoning blends, botanical teas, instant beverages, botanical blends, and other dry blend recipes. The Food Scientist adheres to programs, policies, and objectives to ensure delivery of quality foods to our customers.

Some of the essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Creates new food formulas or improves recipes/formulas and/or flavors. Focuses on research and development.
Test new products for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content, and adherence to government and industry standards. Experienced in FDA labeling guidelines and claims.
Evaluate food processing and storage operations and manage the development of quality assurance programs for such operations.
Creates blending instructions for seamless transfer to the company’s production. Works together along with production to ensure blends are manufactured efficiently and accurately. Manages each project’s scope in the whole development cycle.
Study methods to improve aspects of seasonings, such as chemical composition, flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, and convenience.
Collaborates with Quality Control Dept., Production Dept., Steam Sterilization and Sales Dept. to resolve problems in product development and production batches.
Develops and creates new food items for production, based on consumer feedback. Demonstrate products and assist with ideations to clients. Supply customers’ ingredient requests.
Adheres to R&D compliance with government regulations and standards for sanitation, safety, quality, and waste management.
Experienced in the various industry compliance programs and is able to formulate according to the customer’s needs such as ‘Organic’, ‘Kosher’, ‘Clean label’ ‘Non-GMO’ vs ‘Non-GMO Project’, ‘Natural’ and ‘Clean Label’ blends.
Creates nutrition facts and general nutritional data using Genesis Software.
At times, sourcing ingredients required for projects.
Identify and propose best practices and improvement to organization, management, and R&D team.

Minimum Qualifications

Four-year bachelor's degree in Food Science or Food Technology & Processing a must. Master's degree a plus.
Minimum two years’ work experience in food manufacturing industry.
Experience in seasonings, spices, snack foods or savory, preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Work, Outlook) and Genesis Nutrition Software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as being a team player.
Strong judgment and decision making.
Experienced in GMPs, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Regulations.

This is an hourly, on-site position. This position may have the opportunity or required to travel for work at trade shows throughout the year (travel 5%). Pay range: $33.00 to $37.00 per hour.
