Diesel Mechanic / Generator Technician

Power Up Generator Service Co. is looking for experienced Diesel Mechanics to join our growing team and train as Generator Technicians serving customers throughout New England.

If you have strong diesel engine experience and enjoy hands-on work, troubleshooting, and working in the field, this is an excellent opportunity to build your skills in the growing generator service industry.

What You'll Do

As a Generator Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing commercial and industrial generators throughout New England.

Your responsibilities will include:

Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on generators and related equipment.
Diagnose diesel engine, mechanical and electrical problems.
Repair or replace components, equipment and systems as needed.
Conduct performance testing to ensure generators are operating properly and ready when customers need them.
Troubleshoot problems independently and work with other technicians when necessary.
Communicate professionally with customers and explain service and repair needs.
Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records.
Follow manufacturer specifications, industry standards and company procedures.
Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
Work independently with minimal supervision while traveling to customer locations.
Participate in an on-call rotation, including nights and weekends, as needed.
Work overtime when necessary to meet customer needs.
Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Safely lift 50+ pounds and perform physical activities including bending, climbing, kneeling and working in confined or difficult-to-access areas.

What We're Looking For

Minimum 5 years of diesel engine repair experience.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Basic electrical knowledge.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to pass a drug test and DOT physical.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, technicians and management.
Comfortable using computers and mobile technology for service documentation.
Ability to work independently in a field-based position.
Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends and participate in a rotating on-call schedule when required.
Military mechanical training, technical school or trade school experience is a plus.
Generator experience is preferred but not required — we will train the right diesel mechanic.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is mechanically minded, dependable, professional and enjoys solving problems. You should be comfortable working with your hands, diagnosing equipment issues and interacting with customers.

Generator experience is a plus, but if you are an experienced diesel mechanic looking for a new career path, we will provide training to help you become a successful Generator Technician.
