Full Job Description

Redeemer Presbyterian Church is hiring a part-time Administrative Assistant to support our church office and the financial side of our operations. The schedule runs 17 to 21 hours a week, on-site, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. We set the specific hours with you at hire and keep them consistent.

This is a generalist position with a real accounting component. Roughly half the work is financial: preparing paper documentation each week for our outside accounting firm, and setting up and maintaining the recurring vendor payments that now cover most of our bills. The other half is front-office work — answering the phone, producing documents, and keeping program records current.

What you will do

Prepare weekly financial documentation for pickup by our outside accounting firm
Set up, monitor, and maintain recurring vendor payments
Record contributions and deposits accurately
Gather, enter, and maintain program data in church systems
Produce letters, forms, and other church documents
Answer the phone and assist members and visitors with inquiries
Provide general administrative support to church staff

What we are looking for

Two or more years of office experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Accuracy with numbers and a record of meeting recurring deadlines without reminders
Discretion with confidential financial and member information
Comfort managing vendor accounts and online payment portals
High school diploma or equivalent

Prior bookkeeping or accounts-payable experience is helpful but not required. We will train you on our specific processes.

Compensation and terms

$19 to $21 an hour, depending on experience
Hourly, non-exempt, paid biweekly by direct deposit
This position does not include health insurance or paid vacation
Employment is contingent on a background check

Redeemer Presbyterian Church has served Overland Park since 1994. Our office is small and steady — three administrative staff working closely with the Church Administrator on a campus shared with Heritage Christian Academy. The person in this seat keeps the financial rhythm of the church running and is often the first voice a member or visitor hears.
