Position Summary
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is seeking a full-time, year-round Front of House and Bar Manager to be responsible for overseeing front-of-house functions, concessions, patron services and building operations for performances, events, and special experiences throughout the Theatre. Although the Maltz Jupiter Theatre operates year-round, the performances and events mainly take place between October and April.
Essential Responsibilities:
Front-of-House Management
· Oversee all House Managers and House Attendants.
· Assist with scheduling House Managers and House Attendants to ensure appropriate staffing levels for each performance, event, or special experience.
· Provide direction, support, and accountability to front-of-house staff and ensure staff understand the specific requirements and expectations for each event or experience.
· Serve as the primary front-of-house point of contact during performances, events, and special experiences for patron concerns and operational issues.
· Coordinate the resolution of box office, security, facility, concessions, and other operational issues that arise.
· Maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and professional environment for patrons, staff, volunteers, performers, and guests.
· Oversee overall building operations during performances, events, and special experiences.
Concessions Operations
· Oversee all concessions operations associated with performances, events, and special experiences.
· Ensure lobby and front-of-house areas are properly prepared and presentation-ready.
· Ensure bars and other concession service areas are properly staffed, stocked, organized, and ready for service.
· Ensure all areas associated with special experiences are properly prepared prior to guest arrival.
· Ensure the gift shop is properly opened, stocked, organized, and ready for patrons.
· Complete all opening procedures prior to performances, events, and special experiences.
· Establish and maintain service standards and procedures for all concessions operations.
· Monitor concessions services throughout performances and events and address operational issues as they arise.
· Manage cash handling procedures associated with bar and concessions operations.
· Count and verify cash drawers prior to opening and at the conclusion of intermission.
· Complete required cash-out procedures and ensure accurate reconciliation of drawers.
· Oversee gift shop cash handling and point-of-sale procedures during performances and events.
· Ensure cash drawers in the gift shop are properly counted, reconciled, and closed at the conclusion of operations.
· Complete all required closing procedures following performances and events.
· Secure front-of-house areas and ensure all operational areas are properly shut down.
Volunteer Training and Show-Day Management
· Provide operational input to the Volunteer Coordinator regarding staffing needs for performances, events, and special experiences.
· Train volunteers specifically assigned to bar operations.
· Assist with training volunteers specifically related to gift shop operations, shuttle operations, and scanning operations.
· Provide additional operational guidance and training as needed for these specific areas.
· On show days, provide direction and oversight to volunteers working in areas under the Production Operations Manager’s responsibility.
· Ensure volunteers have the information, equipment, and support necessary to successfully perform their assigned duties on show day.
· Address volunteer questions, operational issues, and performance concerns that arise during a show or event.
· Communicate volunteer-related issues to the Volunteer Coordinator when follow-up or additional training is needed.
Inventory and Purchasing
· Maintain overall inventory control for front-of-house, concessions and bar operations.
· Order and restock concessions supplies, bar supplies, front-of-house supplies, and other operational materials and ensure adequate inventory is available on hand for all scheduled events.
· Maintain inventory of supplies needed for special events and guest experiences.
· Organize storage areas to ensure supplies and merchandise are accessible, properly maintained, and accounted for.
· Monitor usage and help maintain cost-effective inventory practices.
· Maintain appropriate levels of glassware and other bar equipment and supplies.
Special Events and New Guest Experiences
· Provide operational support for other events and special experiences such as on-stage opportunities, the GR2 experience, VIP experiences, interactive programs, and other new offerings.
· Help determine staffing, volunteer training, concessions, inventory, equipment, guest-flow, and operational needs for new guest experiences.
· Oversee concessions needs for special events and programs.
Operational Coordination
· Work closely with production, box office, security, facilities, marketing, the Volunteer Coordinator, and other Theatre personnel to ensure successful performances and events.
· Participate in planning meetings for events and experiences that require operational support.
· Assist with the development and implementation of front-of-house policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.
· Identify operational issues and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, safety, and quality of the patron experience.
· Maintain accurate operational records and documentation as required.
· Perform other duties related to venue and production operations as assigned.
Key Qualifications
· Prior food and beverage management experience preferred, including bartending experience.
· Strong leadership and communication skills.
· Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
· Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills.
· Ability to provide direction and support to staff and volunteers.
· Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding cash handling, inventory, building readiness, and guest experience.
· Ability to coordinate multiple departments, events, and responsibilities simultaneously.
· Ability to adapt to new programs, experiences, and changing operational requirements.
· Professional, dependable, flexible, and service-oriented approach.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
· Ability to lift and carry at least 20 pounds and work standing on feet, walking, bending and reaching.
· Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, show dates, and special events as required by the Theatre’s performance schedule.

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
