Staff Accountant / Accounting Analyst – Governmental Consulting

Our client, a governmental consulting and accounting services firm based in Puerto Rico, is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant / Accounting Analyst to join their growing team.

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant / Accounting Analyst is the entry-level position within the firm. This role supports Senior and Manager-level staff in the execution of accounting tasks, data gathering, and document preparation under direct supervision. The ideal candidate is eager to develop their technical competencies and professional judgment as they grow within the organization.

Responsibilities

Execute accounting analyses, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and other project deliverables
Support the collection, organization, and verification of accounting and financial information
Prepare worksheets, schedules, basic reconciliations, and other project support documents
Record and report hours worked on a daily and accurate basis per firm requirements
Follow procedures established by the Manager or Senior for each assigned task
Maintain project files organized and up to date
Communicate any questions or issues encountered during task execution to the Senior or Manager
Comply with on-site work schedule at client facilities as required by contract
Attend client meetings when authorized or required by the Manager
Learn and become familiar with accounting systems and processes of assigned governmental entities
Participate in professional development activities offered by the firm

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience)
Active CPA license or active CPA candidate preferred
Basic knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/GASB)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and standard productivity tools
Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to follow instructions
Punctuality and commitment to client schedules
