About the Role

The Front Desk Agent serves as the first and last point of contact for every guest at The Tryst. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the guest experience — from arrival and check-in through checkout — while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, warmth, and efficiency. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, genuinely enjoys serving people, and takes pride in creating pleasant and memorable stays.

Must be available to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight. We offer medical insurance, life insurance, and additional benefits.

Reports to: Front Office Manager/ General Manager

Department: Front Office

Key Responsibilities

Perform all check-in and check-out tasks efficiently and accurately.
Manage online and phone reservations; confirm and adjust bookings as needed.
Welcome guests upon arrival, assign rooms, and provide a warm, personalized introduction to the property.
Register guests by collecting all necessary information including contact details and exact dates of stay.
Inform guests about payment methods; verify and process credit card data securely.
Provide detailed information about the hotel, available rooms, rates, and amenities.
Respond to guest complaints and concerns promptly, professionally, and with genuine care.
Liaise with Housekeeping to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy, and fully prepared prior to guest arrival.
Confirm group reservations and coordinate personalized services for VIP guests and event attendees.
Upsell additional facilities and services where appropriate to enhance the guest experience.
Maintain updated and accurate records of all bookings and payments.
Keep the front desk and surrounding work areas clean, organized, and presentation-ready at all times.
Perform other job functions as assigned according to shift requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality preferred.
Minimum 1 year of front desk or guest-facing hospitality experience.
Proficiency in MEWS or a similar Property Management System (PMS).
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and guest-focused under pressure.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in billing and record-keeping.
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.
Must be legally authorized to work in Puerto Rico.
Candidates may be required to complete an English proficiency assessment to evaluate written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods while using a computer and telephone.
Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
Ability to bend, reach, and occasionally stoop as needed.
Ability to use computers, office equipment, and reservation systems proficiently.
Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements, including typing.
Ability to maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to remain professional and courteous while assisting guests in a busy hospitality environment.

Preferred:

Prior experience in a boutique or lifestyle hotel environment.
Familiarity with The Tryst brand standards and service philosophy.
