Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage financial records and ensure accurate accounting practices for our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of accounting software, GAAP standards, and financial concepts, with the ability to handle various accounting functions including general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to both corporate and non-profit accounting environments, supporting the organization’s financial health and compliance.Responsibilities

Maintain and update accurate financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Quicken
Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation
Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently
Prepare detailed financial reports and assist with financial report writing for internal and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and governmental accounting regulations when applicable
Handle payroll processing and related tax filings with precision
Support budgeting activities by analyzing financial data and preparing relevant reports
Assist with double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation tasks
Perform month-end closing procedures and assist in audit preparations as needed

Requirements

Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, preferably within corporate or non-profit sectors
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial tools
Strong understanding of GAAP principles, governmental accounting standards (if applicable), and technical accounting concepts
Knowledge of bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management
Familiarity with payroll processing, tax experience, and financial report writing
Ability to perform detailed account analysis using 10 key typing skills for data entry accuracy
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in balancing accounts and reconciling statements
Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data accurately
Effective communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with team members
