Sales Estimator

Pomona, CA Full-time $88,500–$105,750 base + commission

American Precast Concrete and Concrete Fence Installers are looking for an experienced estimator who wants more than a support role. This is an opportunity to take real ownership of how work is qualified, priced, presented and improved—and to build an estimating function that can scale with a growing, vertically integrated business.

What you will Do:

The proposal queue: priorities, aging, work in progress and dependable turnaround commitments.
Complete quantity takeoffs and cost build-ups from plans, specifications and field-verified conditions for precast walls, fencing, repairs, hardscape and material-supply scopes.
Clear, fact-based bid/no-bid recommendations, including written reasoning when a project is not the right fit.
Accurate proposals with well-written scope, assumptions, alternates and exclusions that protect the customer and the company from surprises.
The pricing conversation: present the estimate, explain the value and re-scope thoughtfully when needed instead of defaulting to discounts.
Estimate-to-actual feedback: use completed-job labor, material and margin results to improve future pricing and decision-making.
Continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, cost libraries and handoffs with sales, operations and leadership.

What will help you succeed

Five or more years of estimating experience with a self-performing specialty subcontractor in concrete, precast, masonry, fencing, hardscape, retaining walls or a closely related trade.
The ability to build a cost from a drawing set—not simply populate a prebuilt template.
Direct accountability for estimates that were presented to customers and tracked through award, execution and final margin.
Sound judgment about project fit, risk and when not to bid.
A disciplined habit of writing specific scope, assumptions and exclusions.
Strong Excel skills and proficiency with a takeoff platform such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, STACK or a comparable tool.
Confidence communicating with general contractors, owners and internal operations teams.

Prefered but Not Required:

Precast concrete product knowledge.
California public-works experience, including prevailing wage, certified payroll, DIR registration and bid bonds.
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
Experience with HubSpot, Asana, Buildertrend or similar systems.
A track record of rebuilding or scaling an estimating process.
